#Help Preparing a Tablet for Resale/Giving Away

I have a AVGO N0XQI. I'm trying really hard to prepare it for letting someone else have it. So far, I've listed it's limitations in my Facebook Market Place post. I'm NOT giving anyone any of my passwords at all, with the machine! Thus actually lies where my problem is. I'm willing to do work, to help THEM set it up, if it comes to that. It CANNOT run windows 11. I've tried to use a ventoy disk, with a windows 10 iso, to reinstall windows 10, and it won't work. I've tried as a last resort to call microsoft to see if they could help, it refferred me to a website, that doesn't appear smart enough to answer my question, but I tried from my phone.

I'm simply at minimum, trying to give them a user to login as. My users, including my Administrator from my domain, for whatever reason, do NOT have permission to use the local users and groups snap-in to add a user, or really do Anything. They are supposed to have that permission at that level, and I don't know what's going on. From any account, I can't seem to unjoin from my domain, because even though I can logon to my microsoft accounts, they don't seem to be able to get permission to run the tool to unjoin from a domain. So none of my users can create a new local user OR unjoin from the domain. I could create a user on my domain for logging in on computers to give away, but I would still like to remove junk from that tablet if possible, even if I do that. So that user MUST have permission to manage the users and groups locally, or it won't help. I can't reinstall, if it won't let me, whether I have secure boot turned on or off.

The whole reason I can't do anything with it, is it's clearly NOT compatible with linux mint 22.1, because everything tends to be sideways and the mouse is upside down sideways, before I even install it, so that's not a good sign. Windows setup was sideways, but that was still possible to deal with. I think it came with windows 8.1, and I can tell it was in 2019 that it came in. Can you help?

  1. My device is joined to the domain, because that's the protocol stack best for me to share my users, via server, so that I can just have the users in one place, even though I also use an aweful lot of linux. I won't be able to guarentee that all servers will use the domain.

Right now, it's being done by windows server 2019, but I want to learn to switch it to samba server, I just don't know how yet. When I was able to use it, it got joined like everything else. If you saw the amount of devices I manage in my home, you would probably, if possible, want to use a DC too. Especially, when it's just me who manages it.

  1. OK. Good to know a lot of times, but without wiping what's there, entirely, because it's not saving properly, I can't seem to make it safe to do a wipe, like, might lose drivers, I can't replace, even if same thing, and stuff like that. That's what I'm afraid of. As it is, with or without secure boot, it won't install, for sure, without repartitioning, as I HAVE tried to wipe it without repartitioning. That's not a good sign, so I might wipe it if I repartitioned, and still NOT have a working system, as it might refuse, if I recreate the same partitions. At least, that's what I'm afraid of.

I can try one more time saving it, this time with dd, and see if that will help or not. But since it's not staying connected to wifi (which might be my wifi's fault), I think I'll have trouble. I can try to pull out my ethernet adapter too. I guess, I will, and try that. But I don't expect saving it to work. But after church, I'll try.

I'm working now, on saving the hard drive. If I can successfully save it, it changes everything!

I managed to save the drive. This means, I can always restore it. Now, I successfully reinstalled windows 10. Now it's a matter of where I can find the drivers, so things aren't still sideways. I thought it wasn't built into microsoft windows, and it needed drivers. Either that, or I'm going to have to restore it, again, and have the same problem again. I doubt people will want to use it, if it's sideways and if we can't use the touch, so it must be connected to the keyboard.

This would be about the same problem if we installed linux mint on it, but worse.

I've tried searching the broadcom site, to no avail, the Internet says that the broadcom and AVGO are the same company.

At least that's what google says.
