So I just bought a brand new high speed hdmi(which shouldnt be the case of it not working) So as I connect the cable from my laptop to external screen the no signal thing pops up on the external monitor, but the laptop doesnt detect it, what might be the cause? I tried switching ports, the laptop has integrated and gtx card but the gtx card might he dead for all i know

what monitor are you using ?. because sometimes different monitors have different port interfaces which you gotta switch to which interface you want to use. it could also be driver issues or a broken port.

it worked on display port but this laptop doesnt have one so my guess is the hdmi port on the laptop is from the gpu which is dead and is not coming from the motherboard, but the weird thing is that it reacts to the port being connected cause the no signal thing pops up when i do so
Try connecting the laptop to another known-good working monitor or a TV. If the laptop won't output a signal to multiple displays using various HDMI cables, it's 99.9% the laptop.
You can also buy an hdmi to displayport adapter if need be
