#Can't find m.2 for windows install
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
also I believe windows 11 needs them to be GPT not MDR formated but I could be wrong
They just came out of my other computer, and I'm 100% certain that they are installed
ah mk hmm, did they have any information on them or where they empty?
I am assuming they had some since they were in your old one
So yeah the Samsung had Windows previously and other stuff. The other one was just a mass storage for games
mk so that could be a reason they are not showing up, have you tried just booting into the one that had windows on it?
also depending on the m.2 slot they may not work as one is usually a primary and the other is a secondary slot. shouldn't be an issue but it is something that can be checked if not already
I did and I was getting a blue screen with an error. So I loaded my USB stick for install and I could see my two hhds. I did not want to install on those. So I unplugged them unfortunately I cannot find either of the m.2 show up on the list
hmm odd, what motherboard are you using do you know?
I am working with a Asus Rog Strix Z790-F
alrighty, which of the 4 slots do you have your drives in. there are 4 total m.2 slots
breh chill
I had the same problem like a day ago
also check your bios to see if they are detected there
Boot into bios...and look for an option called VMD..in advanced tab...
Yeah so I went to my bios I was trying to figure out where to locate that information
or search for it
Okay so I did happen to come across a systems agent configuration and I do see a vmd setup menu
Disable vmd..or you can show us...beforehand
Disable vmd controller...
yeah this is were my knowledge reaches the limit I haven't even learned about VMD controllers yet xD
Your drive should be detected now...in windows installer..
@brave heath while I'm in here is there anything else I should disable or enable. I did enable x.m.p.
Keep xmp disabled for now...
Save bios settings..
I js leave my settings default
But I did change the VMD
because I had the same problem
Glad Camellia was able to help you @serene crown Have fun on your tech adventure. hopefully nothing else goes wrong
@versed adder hey I really appreciate you getting to me so quickly bud
If u got the same luck as me ur gonna have to command prompt some when ur like done with installing and this is ur first time installing windows on the system to be able to access the WiFi u gotta bypass it and install the weird ARMOURY crate thing but yeah
thats odd
@brave heath and what do you know, I see a list
Yeah I was already going to go and install the Asus armory crate. I saw it when I went to go download the new firmware
Yeah apparently some people face the issue some don’t
do not install the armory crate tool
crap application, full of bloat
Well I had too
For it to install
The internet drivers
Der der der
interesting, for the wifi to work?
Did you already install...windows?
fuck off asus
Yeah I have windows installed from my other computer.
Nah asus works with me and my dads always used asus
asus really be turning into those auto companies that require software to replace the brakes
it's bloat and forced software.
Mhm
Not a problem with me
Haven’t had any issues
lol
So anyways I don't need the Wi-Fi. I am going to need the tweaker software for my graphics card. Is there anything else I should download from Asus
from asus? no
According to them no
gpu tweaker is fine
gpu overclocking util
Yeah I don’t do like over clocking and shit
Js keep it as it is
So no issues with downloading ur windows and then setting up ur pc u gotta bypass ur internet going?
@serene crown
I mean I'm hoping that my ethernet plugs in and it just works
But the first thing I did was go and download the new bios and install that through the USB
When I plugged in my Ethernet cable
When I was setting up and like logging into windows after the install
It still wasn’t connecting
Even with the Ethernet
So I did
Shift+F10 and then uhhhh OOBE\BYPASSNRO and then restart the computer
I mean I haven't messed with any Wi-Fi drivers that I know of I just went downloaded newest bios and installed that before I started mess with anything else. And I just reformatted this m.2 and installed Windows
U only need the internet driver if u are having a problem connecting it seems to o be a mb to mb issue
I mean..where you are now with the windows install?..
Oh it came up with the normal Windows BS after installation
Now whats the current issue?...
Not as right now, I'm just hoping to get to the desktop it didn't recognize an Ethernet connection
Show me...
So ya I have window says download armoury crate and lan driver
Yep
Do it...
Naw says no connection
If there is no net connection..
Use another pc or android smartphone...to download...ethernet driver...from your motherboard website...and install...
I was able to download it without a connection
Unless if me doing the Shift+F10 and then uhhhh OOBE\BYPASSNRO and then restart the computer
Let me Ethernet my connection
And I don’t remember that part correctly
Download what...armory crate or drivers?...
Downloading lan and Wi-Fi drivers to usb
@brave heath ok installed off the USB and looks like I have Internet woot woot
