my rx 6800 is probably dying but im not sure. While gaming or running a benchmark it works perfectly fine but i open a browser and the whole pc restarts and i checked the dmp and it points to amd driver issues. I've had issues with amd drivers in the past with my rx 7600 which also when browsing had problems(like half the screen freezing) but only when amd radeon was installed, but back to the 6800. It was tested in 2 different pcs. The main pc which it was in had clean installed windows and the gpu worked fine in the pc for about a year before starting theese weird things. The second pc had a 1070 in it and it worked flawlessly with it, so i took the 6800 and put it inside the 2nd pc and did a clean windows install, sure enough it has the same issues. It still has a year warranty and im pretty sure im gonna rma it, but i wanna get some opinions on it.

Sidenote: first pc was tested with the 1070 and had zero issues

1st pc specs:

r7 5800x
sapphire pulse rx 6800
32gb g.skill trident 4x8 3200mhz
msi b550 tomahawk

2nd pc specs:

r7 7700
asus strix 1070 OC
32gb trident z5 6000mhz 2x16
aorus b650 elite ax
gigabyte ud750gm

Yeah GPU seems to just be completely dying

Also idk if anyone experienced the same with amd radeon but after theese restarts the software just doesnt open

spice kiln
#

Yeah that’s a very common problem

#

I managed to get the thing i described as "half the screen freezing" on video

#

Also dont ask why i was on temu, idek

Did you use ddu to remove the Nvidia drivers?

long compass
#

I specifically said it was a clean installed windows about 2 times

midnight skiff
#

Sorry, I didnt read that

long compass
#

np

midnight skiff
#

So, fresh install, new drivers and all

#

And the gpu its fully in, the cable its connected right and all, right?

long compass
#

Yes

#

what really narrows it down is the fact that 2 completely different pcs and it shows the exact same results

midnight skiff
#

Have you check with other hdmi

#

Or DP

long compass
#

1st pc i used dp and the second one i used hdmi

#

no difference

midnight skiff
#

Wait no, you litteraly had a bsod, never mind

#

Download occt and do a GPU stress test

#

If you can

long compass
#

I tested vram with occt and 1st attempt it completely crashed, so much so that i had to switch off the psu bc the pc wasnt responding add 2nd attempt it was fine and ran the test flawlessly

midnight skiff
#

I would say you have a faulty gpu

#

Its new?

#

Oh no, its not

long compass
#

Ive had for about a year or year and a half

midnight skiff
#

I just read it

midnight skiff
#

Did you clean the RAM?

#

Just to make sure its not that

#

Or try and test RAM and CPU with occt too

#

No, that doesnt make sense

#

If It has issues in both pcs It doesnt make sense

long compass
#

exactly

midnight skiff
#

It has to be something with the gpu

#

All contacts clean?

long compass
#

I made sure to check when switching it between the pcs

#

it looks flawles form hardware perpective

midnight skiff
#

Which model is?

#

Like the model of the manufacturer

#

Not that is a Rx 6800

long compass
#

sapphire pulse

midnight skiff
#

Not bad

#

Where did you buy it?

long compass
#

alza

midnight skiff
#

What?

long compass
#

its only middle europe retailer

#

but its one of the best here

#

central*

midnight skiff
#

Well, I dont know what that is, but if you say its good I trust u

#

And you didnt overclock or It overheat or something?

long compass
#

nothing like that

long compass
#

its where i bought my rx 7600 that i mentioned and after using it for a year it also had issues so i rma'd it and they gave me a full refund

midnight skiff
#

But, isnt weird that both GPUs that came from the same place were bad?

#

Idk, It sound weird to me

long compass
#

both of my whole pcs are form there and they work perfectly fine

#

not pre builts either

midnight skiff
#

Mmm, well It looks like its bad

#

If you can talk to them try

cedar spire
#

but considering the gpu had the same problem in 2 different systems, yeah rma it
