Dell xps refuse to turn on PLZ HELP MEZ

only thing i can suggest is disconnecting the battery, pressing and holding the power button for 15s to discharge caps and then reconnect battery and charge. did this randomly happen or was it maybe dropped or something? check all wiring connections when inside as well

#

exact model # would be helpful as well

This looks like an issue that I see a lot with Dell chromebooks. On those I can just give a three-finger-salute and enter recovery mode, but the XPS doesn't have that. Start with Lucid's suggestion and if that doesn't work we can look at other options

I'm assuming you've tried to enter the BIOS already?

what color is the cable ?

It should be a bundle of them right next to the battery. There should be a label on the motherboard (my XPS said BATT next to the cable but yours is newer and might say something different)

btw i forgot to tell you another eror about this laptop

#

the last time i used it the laptop screen started flickering alot and it had a string of werid pixels displaying all sorts of colors

#

idk if that might with the yk

Oh in that case if the battery thing doesn’t work I would assume it’s an issue with your display, either a GPU issue or wiring issue. That might be a little harder to fix, but we’ll give it a shot

solid girder
#

it may be both because my laptop refuses to turn on when ever i turn it on this happens

sounds like the gpu died tbh

if i can't fix it would i need to buy replacement i am happy to buy replacemnt parts

#

as long as its under 200 aud

#

or go to some place to fix it

i still think you need to take the back off, check the connections and try disconnecting the battery...BUT. if the gpu died it is most likely not cost effective to replace the gpu as they are SOC. meaning they are permanently affixed to the motherboard, meaning you would need to somehow source a new mobo/cpu/gpu combo (doubtful dell even sells that)

#

try the steps above first before saying its screwed tho

#

sorry if I may be asking too much

#

I also found its service tag its an older XPS 15 9570

#

i also pugged it into a monitor and it seems it not puting any display on

oh

#

alright then

solid girder
#

should I then just replace the entire motherboard ?

Getting a new motherboard would be very difficult for such an old system. At this point, it would be more cost-effective and future-proof to buy a new laptop and transfer over the data from the old hard drive

I support Right to Repair as much as the next guy, but there comes a point when it just doesn't make sense to keep repairing the same device. I have the exact same XPS as you and it was a constant battle to keep that thing running. When the hard drive finally died I realized that I could either continue to spend large sums of money every month to keep an obsolete device running, or I could get something newer that would last me much longer and keep the older device around for hobby work. If you want something reasonably priced that you can repair, get a Framework laptop.
