Part List - KOLINK Inspire K11 ARGB ATX Mid Tower
This would do just fine for minecraft and roblox
It has good upgradability though
drop in a decent GPU later and it'll be as good as any gaming pc
use smt like pie shopping to find any coupon codes, especially for that cpu link
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/zkRX3w We can do a LOT better
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, GeForce RTX 2060, Deepcool CC360 ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Not too familiar with the used market but I see a 130 pound RTX 2060 on GPUsed
The power supply is honestly a bit overkill
yea go with that if you don't plan to upgrade^
I wouldn't prefer the first list even if original poster plans to upgrade
It's just a lot of cost cutting just for the sake of AM5, lots of performance loss left on the table
8GB DDR5 sticks (horribly specced too), the 8700G, yada yada
It's for Minecraft
You can upgrade that system for probably 4-5 years and have good performance
Yeah you could upgrade it but might not see much benefit (and honestly, the iGPU isn't even what I would call the minimum for gaming nowadays)
For the reasons listed above, 8GB DDR5 sticks are a big no-no
I use 2x 8gb ddr5 and I don't even get close to max usage playing cyberpunk and rdr2 or even warzone
and considering it's for minecraft

Right but you're fundamentally running it at a half rank configuration, you're leaving a lot of performance out of the equation
It's for minecraft
It's the way 8GB sticks are configured, you have half the memory bandwidth modules compared to a 16 gig stick and the group bank configuration being vastly different
Doesn't necessarily mean you have to go with suboptimal hardware choices
If you want to upgrade it for the future, why limit yourself in the first place
Did you like not read the part where you're leaving out performance
You might as well get DDR4 at that point
If you want to upgrade it for the future, why limit yourself in the first place

There you go
You just contradicted yourself
We're settling for garbage 8 gig DDR5 sticks when you can get a 32 gig kit for not much nowadays
You might as well get DDR4 at that point
You'd have to drop to a worse CPU
AM5 doesn't support DDR4
and if you're going the upgrade path, CPU is much more important than ram
It'd be a lot more balanced for both games OP will be playing
Minecraft isn't hard to run, you could run that off a potato
There are definitely going to be games that are going to destroy the 8700G on Roblox
that's why I said this
You're also just cutting costs for the sake of AM5, when AM4 fundamentally does the same thing here, if we're going to get AM5, we might as well get the whole thing
So don't upgrade to get worse performance?
What am I missing here
what?
no
I'm saying if he plans to get a good GPU later and drop in in the system, I'd go with the am5
if he doesn't want to do that then go with the 2060
With horribly specced RAM and an absolute abomination of an AM5 CPU?
the ram isn't bad
....
Guess we can't just read
You literally provided a source on how dogshit DDR5 16GB kits are
It's literally doing the same/better
It's not that I care about, even if 5600mts is suboptimal
Then why cut him off at 16gigs if he's going to upgrade in the future???
What are we saying here bro
We're just going in circles
Budget
So get him 32 gigs if we want bro to upgrade
and drop to am4
While maintaining a more balanced build, 32 >16 gigs of RAM, and overall better performance
OH MY GOD
There are going to be very few titles where a better CPU is going to yield a better performance difference while keeping the specs somewhat relative
THAT'S IF YOU DON"T GET A GPU
am5 > am4
5800X3D + 4090 <<<<<<<<<<<<<< 8700G+ 3080 then
We're going to have to look at both systems on a spec to spec basis, not just blanket recommending AM5 because "it's better"
you can upgrade the CPU
You can with the 5600 too, we're going in circles here
You can't upgrade the 5600 to whatever tf AMD has in 2027
5700X3D?
I'm sure the 5700X3D will stack up to a 2027 AM5 CPU
Again, spec by spec basis
this was sarcastic btw
And I'm sure OP would appreciate the lovely hardware provided
No use in arguing here anymore, the 2060 build is objectively better here in terms of performance and best catered to their needs while keeping "future proofing" in mind
AM5 is unquestionably the path to go for upgradability, which is what my list was meant for
RAM isn't soldered to the motherboard
I guess information goes in one ear and instantly out the other
I'm done arguing here, it's clearly useless
agreed
We're just blanket recommending AM5 for the sake of AM5 while literally cutting costs in literally every single aspect, it doesn't make sense. And even if you did upgrade, the AM4 build can literally still upgrade to compete.
Toodles
take your own advice
like I said, AM5 will be usable way past 2027
AM4 won't compete
not even close
it's done
By then OP could upgrade to a whole new platform
Gives build "for future proofing"
Limits said future proofing
Nice 🙂
By spending more money, that'd be nearly 150-170 dollars on RAM alone lol
Might as well raise the budget
For real I'm done now
You'd be spending a whole lot more money buying 2 motherboard than 2 ram kits
Pros of my build:
Better performance
Better RAM
Better power supply
A dedicated GPU
Pros of your build:
AM5
Even if you did slide a GPU in there, that doesn't necessarily mitigate the rest of the cons
^ Which the AM4 build could exactly do as well, while maintaining a more enjoyable experience for OP until he needs to upgrade

is this good
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6600, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
budget is 400-450
no?
if you can do 620 that changes things a lot lol
