Didnt stop me from buying one tho. Any of the current sockets will be old when i upgrade in the future anyway.
A 12600k will work well for you. And you can still upgrade to a 12700k which would give you even more oumpfh.

I ended up getting a 13600 as I found it for the same price as tbe 12600
