Im currently in a very awkward spot. The current situation is that I want to upgrade to PCIe 4.0 standard since my B450 F from Rog is very outdated and does not ultilize the 990 Pro speeds to 100%. Another requirement is that the mobo needs to have an USB C header on it.

Hardware specs are:

ASUS ROG B450F Gaming II
Ryzen 7 5800X3D
ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 3090 (Factory + manual OC)
750W PSU from ROG
64GB of DDR4 ram running on 3600Mt/s
1x 250GB 970 EVO Plus (windows installation)
1x 1TB 990 Pro
1x 1TB 870QVO
ASUS ROG Ryujin II 360 ARGB

That leaves me with 2 options:

Buy an high end AM4 board = spend 200-300€ on something used

or

Sell the B450F Gaming II mobo aswell as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and buy a Ryzen 7 9800X3D with AM5 board

Now the awkward part. If I choose to stay on AM4 I miss out on the new features and performance gains but save up a lot of money.
Now if I choose to upgrade to AM5 the list of replacement parts will be a new Mobo, new CPU and a new PSU which will alone costs me 800€ or more.

when transfering a file from one ssd to another, the speed will be the speed the worse ssd out of the 2 can handle

Oh now I understand yes that’s not the problem it’s just that the 990 Pro should be able to well unbottlenecked in terms of speed since it’s only running on PCIe 3.0 right now

i dono they just supported it since the cpus that came out for 500 chipsets could do pcie 4.0 and was the main reason why 400 could not so they just fixed the bios to do pcie 4.0 but was not made to work with pcie 4.0 so some stopped working and was funky that then made amd lock it down and 400 chipset motherboard to support pcie 4.0

That’s not true. A new AM5 mobo for example will increase performance because of ddr5 and 9800x3d I compared both CPU’s and know the difference it makes
