#New ram being reserved, not an igpu issue
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Checked msconfig and the advanced settings, tried multiple things and none of them worked
so max mem not ticked
Yea it wasn’t
open cpu-z and send SPD for each stick
Alright
Is that something I have to install?
yes
Downloading it rn
2 of the sticks i installed today are a different brand, but the same speeds and everything im not sure if that would be an issue
well max suported is 2133
i do see that they are showing different stuff for each
try the teamgroup sticks in 2/4 and other ones in 1/3
im not sure what that means, sorry
do you mean re arranging their slots?
alright
the teamgroup sticks are currently in 2/4
they originally were
1 and 3 are patriot and 2 and 4 are teamgroup
not yet
ill try that now
im not sure if this is important but it also shows this in system information
Cant update it rn i dont have a usb drive so we will see tomorrow
nvm found one im updating it rn
updated to the newest bios and its still showing the same
reseat the ram
Just going to add this is frequently happens when there are memory compatiblity issues.
Just adding more RAM doesn't always work
The memory controller on second gen Ryzen was also quite crap when it came to running four sticks.
Running 3600 is basically not going happen
would it be better to just return these new sticks and get like a 16gb single stick?
i mean 2x8 and 1x16
like would that be bad
motherboard: gigabyte b450m aorus
gpu: rtx 3060 12gb
cpu: ryzen 5 2600x
500w psu
windows 10
these are my current specs
Not a better idea.
If the other kits runs fine on its own, my money is on compatibility
so should i just go for the exact same type
exact same kit
That doesn't guarantee compatibility. One, that memory controller hates four sticks. Two, RAM vendors will switch manufacturers without changing the model number so a different batch could be as different from your current kit as any other random kit.
jesus
so 2x16gb would be my best solution
That's usually the most reliable.
Found the solution @kind rapids @warm minnow
what was it
Just swapped the ram sticks placement
Swapped the new ram into 2 and 4 and the old into 1 and 3
what are they now
ok so reseating fixed it
.
It was just the placement I’d re set it before but it stayed the same
