#Gaming-editing PC for about 1000€

Hello everyone! I'm slowly thinking about upgrading from my current pc, because I think the components are getting old and "tired".

I know basic PC stuff, but still would be more comfortable with some help on the picking out parts side.

I currently have:
• CPU: i5-7500 (stock cooler)
• MOTHERBOARD: asrock h110m-dgs r3.0
• GPU: GTX 1080
• PSU: Corsair CV650 (80+ Bronze)
• SSDs: I don't remeber 100% but I think it was a samsung 870 evo and 870 qvo (one was 1TB and other 2TB, don't remeber which was which)
• HDD: 1TB that is plugged in that I rarely use, and 1TB that is unplugged because it was corrupted couple of years ago and I was too lazy to fix it)
• CASE: Fractal design r5

I was thinking for the budget to be around 1000€. (€ because I'm in Estonia)

The use-case would be for gaming and also some photo and video editing. For games maybe like GTA5, I saw that there's an upgraded version coming out on PC, and of course other games like that. The games don't have to run on max settings on a million fps but I don't want the games to be on low settings.

Also:
I have an idea to make a small server (NAS and some other stuff maybe) out of some of my current parts. Not certain, just an idea.

I figured if anyone could help me it would be you guys from this community.
What would be your recommendations for that price range?

Thanks in advance!😁

Thanks! Will definitely save that list. If anyone else got an another idea it would help a lot!

Crap.. forgot to add this on the post (will edit it). I have an idea to make a small server out of my current CPU and maybe other current parts. Not certain, just an idea.

Thanks, will save that list as well! I just checked, my current PSU is a Corsair CV650 (80+ Bronze).

Yeah I just put around 1000€, I think the max price would be 1200€ or 1300€ if it's a good deal. Other cases just 1000€ ± a 100 or 200

Ok, I quickly checked FB marketplace and there is one 7800xt for 450€. IF I bought it, would that be a good deal?

#

I don't know if I'm gonna get to buying like right now. Just checking my options.

The guy who is selling the 7800xt has other PC parts (and a PC) for sale too, and one listing for building PCs. Maybe it's a side hustle

#

So what I'm getting out of all of your lists is that for the GPU the AMD cards are better?

#

Heheh ok

#

Yeah, I think for now (or whenever I'll get to the buying part) I'll go for for example 7800xt and if later on I really really want ray tracing or smth, I'll just swap it

I do know nvidia cards better. I'm not very familiar with amd cards. I'll think about it

#

What is the equivalent for rx7800xt? Rtx 4070?

grand latch
#

Oh ok, yeah didn't think of that

Ok, I put an idea together in pcpartpicker (based on your suggestions) and I changed the prices to the prices of a pc part shop here (some stuff I already have, marked them 0). Would like some feedback.

I know it's over 1300, but I guess I have to get some more money together (still a uni student with a semi part-time job)😅

I think if that worked, in the long run I'd want a 4070 something with a decent vram. I also really like the Fractal Design North case. But yeah, these "upgrades" would be in the far far future.

What do you guys think?

#

ok, the site tells me that the PSU I have right now doesn't have an additional 4pin connector and it doesn't check RAM and the CPU cooler clearance

#

still would like your opinion😁

@light garnet would it be ok, if I asked you to take a look at my idea? I feel like it's better to ask you because you kind of suggested a build idea. Pleeeaaase😅

It's alright. I'm not in a hurry hahah

#

I just picked a RAM kit that was on sale in my local pc store

#

Would I have to offset the fan on other RAM kits also?

#

It don't really mind it, but if there's another option I'll take a look

#

Ok, I guess I have to take a look someday to see if they have spmething like that

#

G.Skill Flare X5 low profile 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 5200MHz CL36

#

Ohhh ok

#

These kind of match that description:
• G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 6400MHz CL32
• CORSAIR VENGEANCE Low Profile 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 (but CL36)

#

Ohhh, nice hahah

final sentinel
#

:clueless:

grand latch
#

Yeah the price for that is 124.40€

final sentinel
#

6400 should be fine but if you start seeing stablity issue then down clock it to 6000

#

yeah for amd I'd get 6000

#

I mean thats what I got

same same
as long as its ddr5-6000 cl30 or less or a bit more (max cl 36) then u good

grand latch
#

Ok

#

Thaaaanks!

#

But anyway. @light garnet, is the overall idea ok or do I have to change something more?

grand latch
#

Made the changes

#

If that's good. And in the far-far future I want to get a fractal design north case, would it be ok?

grand latch
#

Thank you guys very very much for helping me. Someday, when I've bought and built it, I'll let you know

#

If I have some questions I know who to ask

#

Do I have to mark the convo as solved now?😅

Cl36 is basically the same as cl30, the problem is that the latency is really big because of the hella low speed

Hi again! Haven't bought anything yet, just looking at the cart I've put together😆 and some other parts.

The current cpu that I've chosen with your help is the 7700x for 354.90€.

But I noticed that the 9700x is normally 399.90€ but it's for sale 379.90€. (At the store at my country)

I looked up that the 7700x is 105 watts and 9700x is 65w. Also the 7700x's base clock is 4.5GHz and 9700x's base clock is 3.8GHz.

So the question: is it worth it to get the 9700x for a little bit more money?
