#Wifi icon not showing next to airplane mode (win10)

Does your system actually have WiFi hardware? If yes, are the WiFi drivers installed? A screenshot of Device Manager > Network Adapters will help us identify things.
Screenshot the Driver tab too please.
umm which tab exactly i didnt understand
The tab. Labelled "Driver"?
Ooooof those drivers are either really old or generic.
You can either download the latest drivers directly from Intel, or grab whatever drivers come from your motherboard manufacturer, assuming WiFi is built into your motherboard.

i tried these ones leme send u a ss
I have a different chipset, but the drivers should be the same. Mine are newer than 2021, so yeah, first thing to try is updating drivers.
I linked to the one you can try above. Looks the same as your screenshot, so yes, give it a try.
yes this is from that link u sent
so i shud download and install it right?
will i need to restart pc?
the wifi icon hasnt appeared yet
You might. If the WiFi still doesn't work after a reboot, it could be a hardware error, there could be a problem with your Windows installation, or another piece of software could be affecting it.
Could be. Impossible for us to say without trying a reinstall.
- How was Windows installed?
- What are your system specs?
- Has WiFi ever worked on this system?
is there anything else i can try b4 reinstalling windows
Not that I can think of.
used a media creation tool
system specs:
rtx 3060
i7 11th gen
16gb ram
MPG B560 Trident A
yes wifi was working till yesterday until i did ddu and installed a very old version of nvidia drivers
Oh nice, one of these? I see it's capable of running Winodws 11, so I would recommend creating a USB installer for that and giving it a go. (Windows 10 reaches end of life in OCtober of this year anyway.)
switching to win 11 can fix this issue?
No idea. If you had working WiFi on Windows 10, you could just reinstall that, but I recommend Windows 11 since Windows 10 is end of life in less than 10 months anyway...
MSI is doing a poor job updating driver downloads for that system, at least for WiFi / networking.
yep i trieed this one too but it didnt solve the problem
btw if i switch to win 11 can i get to keep my files
Probably, however, I always recommend having a backup of any files you cannot easily re-create or download again, regardless of whether you're reinstalling Windows. For all you know, your storage drive could die tomorrow, taking all your files with it if you don't have a backup somewhere.
yup got it
Wait a sec.... the listing on MSI's website doesn't say it comes with a WiFi card. Are you sure it had WiFi from the day you bought it? Or did you add WiFi to it by purchasing a WiFi card / adapter afterward?

MPG Trident A is the most fitting gaming desktops for your home. Coming in merely 10 liters in volume, they can easily fit in any corner of your home without taking up too much space like traditional gaming desktops. Maximizing your games while minimizing

yes i was using wireless connection
Huh weird. Both the 10th and 11th gen product specification pages don't show Bluetooth or WiFi at all.
Wait no. Yikes MSI. WHY
i had bought this prebuilt from an electronics store
Yeah it should have WiFi - the product spec PDF is dumb. Why bother having a line item for Wireless like all the other line items when we can just NOT have one! Surely that won't confuse anyone!
yup dont know what to do other than upgrading to win 11
Anywho, up to you what you do (reinstall Windows 10, or upgrade to Windows 11.) Either way, you knowing that WiFi worked before DDU'ing points to DDU doing something to break your drivers, so it's unlikely a hardware issue. Glad you at least noticed this though - lots of people wouldn't pay any mind to this correlation. 😄
Eh, DDU is fine in some situations, but I've not had to use it in over 10 years. I generally don't advise using it unless you know you have a situation where purging old GPU drivers is your only option.
yes i was trying to switch to old gpu bcus of another issue i hv and its an ongoing one
