Hello I did a windows update this morning and it made my D: randomly disappear. Everything was work fine last night. I rolled back the update in recovery the D: will show up again after reset and when I try and do anything on that D: it will allow me to open the game but If I try and update anything in the game on the D: it will randomly disappear again.

also on a side note I installed a new seta drive that wont show up at all
IF anyone has any ideas or help I would greatly appreciate it

not at all

I looked in the bios to see if the port could be disabled but other then turning on XMP I don't know much in there

I’ve seen people say that their BIOS has randomly disabled some ports, so if you launch into BIOS I can walk you through it

#

Also - what drive is it?

870 evo sata 2.5

samsung

Just to make sure, have you plugged the power cable for the drive in properly?

frigid ginkgo
#

Yes plugged into my PSU and to the mother board i’ve actually been having the problem for weeks. I just now have time to try to deal with it. But the connection has been checked like four or five times.

Alright, let’s check in the BIOS then

I’m in the bios now

Do you see a SATA setting anywhere?

#

If not, press F7 to go into advanced

Have a Quick Look in advanced, there might be some more SATA settings there

Could it be you have one of the SATAs set to RAID?

#

Try disabling the one that is enabled

frigid ginkgo
#

It says Seita mode raid/Optane mode

#

Sata*

I’m thinking that if it isn’t showing up in bios, it’s possibly a damaged cable, unless you’ve tried multiple

frigid ginkgo
#

Could be the cable I bought it new, with the drive but it could be defective

formal crystal
#

Yeah, do you have any others you could try?

frigid ginkgo
#

I don’t on hand at the moment

formal crystal
#

Okay, I forgot to ask, have you tried the drive in all of the ports?

frigid ginkgo
#

I have

formal crystal
#

You have another SATA drive plugged in, don’t you?

frigid ginkgo
#

I have and m.2 that I have windows installed on and a standard hard drive where everything is currently installed

Ah right, well if it uses a SATA cable, you could always try the working cable in your new drive to see if it is the drive or the cable that’s faulty

frigid ginkgo
#

Never thought of that will give that a go

#

I just opened up my pc this is the only sata plugged in ill buy a another cable and retest with that one and rule out the cable could be a bad drive

formal crystal
#

Okay, have you not tried it with the working SATA cable you have?

frigid ginkgo
#

M.2 in installed right in the mother board and the harddrive not sata

#

this would be the only sata

Make sure the sata power is seated correctly. Maybe unplug from both sides and plug back in (same applies to sata data) if you haven't). You can also try another sata (data) port on the motherboard.

Welp. Hoping it's the cable for you 🙏
