Epic games getting 50+ mb/s, steam stuck at 1.2mb/s

Same PC, same ISP, same download region, no data limits.

It's been happening for over a month now, and I'm at a loss, I've logged into my router's website and nothing is setting steam as a lesser priority, I use ting's fiber optic, with a hardwired connection, I have nothing restricting steam, or my PC in general, I've looked around for weeks and my patience and anxiety has made it impossible for me to not get upset and just give up after 2 hours of trying to figure out what the problem is or overcomplicating it.

I believe some programs are hardcoded to run lower, as i know Steam has had issues in the past of low data downloads, but another thing I would see is what your hard drives r/w speeds are, as that can also affect downloads outside of networking. And is your network outsourced? Like ComCast or something? Or do you have a homelab or home server/router?

My ISP is ting, and I don't know 100% if they're outsourced or not, never really looked into it, and the SSD I have is a 990 pro, it's the same drive I used on Epic, allowing a 50+mb/s download speed, I did a benchmark using samsung's magician, and it tells me the drive health is in good condition. Says my seq read is 7.3k MB/s, and my Seq write is 6.8k MB/s.

I have never heard of ting. What is your current plan with them? As I don't know what their plans are like to understand where the issue can lie.

And have you tried using Speedtest by Ookla? I highly recommend it.

I have, it told me I have like 600 +/- 50ms download and the upload I can't remember, I can do it again, and ting says they can provide 2k+ mbs

I don't mind, I'd rather it be where more people see it

That way if someone else knows they can say something

So it's around 250 mb/s

And at this hour, it's the only device in the house that's really on.

For me it's 1:30 am rn.

I don't expect like, 500mb/s, just not... 1.2, where a 100 gb game takes 24 hours

I'm okay with like, 2-3 hours, but an entire day?

Nah. It's valid that you're thinking this way, but sometimes ISPs can advertise one speed or so on, but then it does something different.

For example, I have 1Gbps internet, whereas you have 2Gbps.

I get roughly the same speeds you do wired on my laptop. Wirelessly it varies, as it can be between 15Mbps and 50Mbps.
