Hey everyone,

I’m building a PC primarily for gaming (1440p) and programming. My last build was 5 years ago, so I’m aiming for something future-proof within this budget to last me several years. Here’s my parts list—feedback is appreciated!

Purpose: Gaming (1440p, currently using Dell AW2327DF) and programming.
Case: I’ll reuse the case from my current setup if I can get the RTX 5080 Founders Edition. If not, I’ll need to pick up a new case.

PC PartPicker List: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/dtL974

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken Elite 240 RGB (2024) 75.12 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (€269.89 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X870-PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard (€320.99 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory (€195.89 @ Alternate)
Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 4 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (€309.00 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Video Card: NVIDIA Founders Edition GeForce RTX 5080 16 GB Video Card
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case (€97.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Power Supply: Corsair RM1000x (2024) 1000 W Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (€166.90 @ Amazon Deutschland) ```

**Questions/Concerns**

1. Are there any compatibility issues with this parts list?
2. Is the motherboard overkill? My only requirements are WIFI, 4 Nvme Slots and Support for AM5 and new GPU.
3. Do you suggest a different AIO cooler? This time I want to go with AIO to reduce clutter inside the case. Currently I have a Dark Rock Pro 4 and I'm quite happy with air cooling, but it takes a lot of space inside the case and making it harder to reach RAMs when I need it.

to avoid any risks I would go the safe route

quiet hedge
#

a 120mm can do that without any issues

nocturne raft
#

120mm is just trash full stop

quiet hedge
#

well yeah but even for a 9800X3D its more then fine

nocturne raft
#

eh... I mean I can do research but...

I’d change the mbu, ram and cpu cooler

nocturne raft
#

ram is fine, what is mbu? you mean mb? I think it's also fine

Cooler is overpriced junk- use arctic 360/420 cheaper and stronger.

Mbu I dislike asus tuf series so I would suggest msi tomahawk or asrock

Ram change cl latency to be about 30.

well I mean

also gotta consider AMD doesn't suck as much power as Intel does

but yes lower latency does mean performance will generally be better

bright jacinth
# quiet hedge 420mm rad for a 9800X3D??

A three fans looks better 😉 or you could use an air cooler, icr which specifically but I know there’s one like Id cooling or thermal something that does a rly good job.

Speed isn’t as important as the latency

nocturne raft
#

well at least uh

#

yes true but they are both important

#

quick ram is useless if it isn't fast

bright jacinth
#

Important yes. Does the x3D chip have preference yes.

If you can have pay a little more, and have 6000 with cl 30/32 you will have a better experience

Case is limiting me going for 3x120, fractal meshify C is quite tight inside and on top there is room for 240-280, on front you can go 360 but can't be sure if the clearance will be good. So I was thinking I'd mount the radiator on top.

If going for 360 would really worth it then I need to buy a case as well

quiet hedge
#

you really do not need a 360

#

even a single tower cooler is enough for that cpu

Thank you @quiet hedge Do you think will I lose something when going with X670 rather than X870?

PCIe*

I searched it up, no it still has PCIe 5, last thing that comes to mind that can change is I/O and ram speeds
