Is this your current PC?

vast salmon
#

Not my current but what I want to get

#

K, what's the budget and what's the use case?

vast salmon
#

2k max

latent sleet
#

And the use case?

vast salmon
#

I don’t know what that means

#

I’m new to computers

At what resolution and refresh rate?

#

Basically
How good is the screen you're going to hook it up to

vast salmon
#

one sec i'll find it

#

@latent sleet are you able to read that

#

@latent sleet

latent sleet
#

Aka "fairly light"

#

This computer will do, though it might be somewhat overkill

vast salmon
#

how so

# vast salmon how so

Well
The GPU is pretty much spot on
But for pure gaming, that might be too much CPU

#

That said, it won't perform worse due to it being too much; it'll just cost more than absolutely necessary

#

But! If you're okay with the price of that system as is, it's going to be a good purchase

Waaaaaait hold on

#

I'm dumb

#

I read that CPU as as "7700X"
Brain fart

#

Disregard everything I said
Sorry
Thanks

#

😅

vast salmon
#

ok no problem

latent sleet
#

ehem
So
Ryzen 5600X

#

Not too bad
But I'd say look at the Ryzen 7600 instead

#

The thing
5600X will still be plenty of compute
But it's built on AM4 instead of the newer AM5

vast salmon
#

@latent sleet how big is the difference

#

(you'd need a different motherboard and RAM sticks, yes -- but the 7600 comes with a free cooler, so you don't need to spend extra on that)
