#formating error

It's either corrupted or there are weird leftover partitions
i’ve heard of some drives having a “read only” physical switch, may want to look at it and see. if not, go to CMD > diskpart > list disk > sel disk [] > clean
Or GUI in Disk management
yeeeep. if that doesn’t work then cmd will
u mean to say go to cmd and paste diskpart > list disk > sel disk [disk letter] > clean
i dont get it
i did this nothing happened
i tried editing files in other usb drives
and i cant do anything
in anyone of them
No, not quite
It's an app in Windows
Oookay, then something else is probably screwed up
What is the exact make and model of USB drive? Link to an online store where you purchased it / it's available, if you like.
Idk I don't remember when I purchased it but it happens with every single usb device even an external ssd
Can u please help me figure it out ?
I'm thinking what could have caused something this catastrophic
So, quick recap:
- When you plug any drive into any USB port...
- ...the drive is read-only for your user profile...
- ...and the drive works properly on other computers
Is that right?
yes
Okay, try creating a new local user profile (via Settings → Users) and see if the drives work from there
should i use the same microsoft acc?
No, I specifically said local user profile
Aka offline, not tied to a Microsoft account
I think I messed up big time
@merry heron
It says I need to format it before I can use it but
It won't let me format it
How do I get that
What do u want to do with this drive pop up
I think I figured it out
Yeah so it's screwed
I selected the view files option now it's not letting me edit
But I think if I select the first one
Then I can edit
Files
Atleast in my external ssd
Sooo this is from the new user profile and you can access some of the drives?
I can access the ssd from both profiles but not edit it
Can you edit it from this new one?
Theis is a pen drive connected
Yeah, when you tried formatting it, it wiped itself clean
No that's what I said there is this popup which asked me what to do with the new drive if I select the first option I might be able to edit but I can't get that to show again
💀
Well it doesn't matter I was gonna use it to install bios but I couldn't upload the files and uk what happened after that
Open it from file explorer
Wdym
I was doing that before too
