If this was a desktop keyboard, I'd be more willing to recommend DIY disassembly, cleanup and reassembly

they said individual keys cant really be taken apart

That looks like the tablet + keyboard if I'm not wrong

So the good news is
It's not completely bust

All you need is a spare keyboard
