Unless you have a very tight budget
In that case lmk what your budget is
MAN its low i donmt have a enoguh for a who new build
whole
sorrt for the bad typing im playing a game rn
the pc part pickeri made sems good and compatible but im on a budget
What’s your budget
like 600
Ok
The Pcpp list I sent is $620 but alr I’ll see what I can do
whats ur thoughts on just upgrading the parts i mentioned
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 4500, Arc B580, Zalman T3 PLUS MicroATX Mid Tower
It’s already very outdated and you’ll have to buy used for the 8700k
3060 was a good choice though but there is better
the 8700k is compatible with my board
The b580 is extremely good and puts up a good fight against 4060 ti and 7700xt
Yeah but might as well upgrade to a new socket
wdym
Newer motherboard which means different compatibility
I wasnt really looking for a new board since the i7 works with my current board
Like you can’t put a 8700k on an LGA 1851 socket which is the newest socket from Intel
Yes, but it’s old and you can just get better especially for your budget
Alright, So orginally i was going to put the i7 in this baord: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KJfFf7/asus-tuf-b365m-plus-gaming-micro-atx-lga1151-motherboard-tuf-b365m-plus-gaming which is the one i currently have and add the 3060 or the card you provided
i would honestly get the new b580. its looking really good for $250
Just gotta wait for it to come back in stock
I was not expecting it to sell out
oh wow, is it already sold out?
Do i have to download any new software as im moving from nvida gefore rtx?
scalpers selling it for over 500 on ebay lmao
Delete and download but it’s not a hassle
Rn i have nvidia geforce 1660 and transtion it will still work then
also
@vestal zenith
that mobo only supports ram speed of up to 2666 mhz
yes ik
Definitely buy the 8700k used
As much as I’m against upgrading a long long outdated platform it’s fine but you have to get it used and definitely get the b580 over the 3060
So when i install the b580 what specifaccly doi download any drivers softare?
Just go to Intels website
drivers, which is available from intels website
There should be a manual in the box
will it bottleneck or anything?
It’s very straightforward
It shouldn’t bottleneck with a 8700k but if it does I won’t say I told you so
will it bottle neck with the 3060?
probably not.
Alr
No
A bottleneck is when the CPU is too bad to handle the power of the GPU and therefore the GPU doesn’t reach its full potential
And for cooling what should I shoot for air or aio?
Air
Definitely don’t need an aio for 8700k
Thermalright peerless assassin is my suggestion
air, you wont be able to fit aio on such a small budget
Alr
Yea there like 100+
currently running a 5700x3d which is a hot cpu, on amd stock cooler and it runs just fine
Thermalright makes some $45-70 dollar aios
I only have an aio for looks
5700x
Oooo I like aios for looks also
I can’t rn sorry
I’m on phone I can later though.
@vestal zenith So these upgrades to a new graphics card and CPU will last a while how long do you think because my current has last 4-5 years
Oh
How so short 😭
Because it’s old
because its an outdated cpu
Maybe mines done just haven’t realized since I’m not the biggest when it comes to PCs
And hardware gets updates more often than in 2019
1660 is fine for now, I recommend saving to $1000 and building a whole new pc
And your upgrading to a CPU that’s not much better and same year
Not all i7s are created equal
I don’t even know if upgrading is worth it or should I ride it out
From what y’all are telling me the estimated times yk
For how long they will last etc
what games are you playing btw?
Well I’m getting more games on steam im not to sure the exact ones but definitely pcvr and higher end games
I’m just upgrading to do homework quicker
Just kidding
what fps are you getting on your current pc? if it works for you, i would suggest saving money and building a new pc
will be better than upgrading your current one
What games?
the ones you play
To be generally honest I’m not sure but it gets buggy sometimes
I have a 240 hertz monitor so I think I can at least run 120 144 I’m pretty sure
On lower end games
now that is a waste of money. 240hz and not even getting 150fps
is the monitor 1080p or 1440?
I believe 1080
I just think the upgrade will make the PC faster last longer and for efficiency
Ride it out and upgrade when you have a bigger budget
Alright
Thanks for the help guys
no worries
No problem
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vnggt3 this might be an okay build. with a different gpu, and changing the storage
