#New pc only booted once with one ram stick

Just built my new pc, and it's not booting. I have fan spin, but no display output. The post status checker has 2 lights illuminated, the CPU and dram. I read somewhere that it's normal during first boot for this to stay on for a few minutes, but it has been half an hour. What should I do?

Parts:
Cpu: AMD Ryzen 7600X
ram: G.skill flare X 5 2x16gb cl30
MOBO: ASRock B650M pg lightning
GPU: gtx 1060 (I'm upgrading this later)
PSU: Corsair cv 550

New pc not booting

#

I do get fan spin (on cpu and gpu, not case fans)

Wait for another 15 to 30 minutes. If it doesn't work by then, try reseating your CPU and RAM. While you'e at it, try one RAM stick at a time and refer to the manual of the MOBO where to put it.

Alright, thank you

Maybe take a look at the CPU socket if there are any bent pins.

Reseated the CPU, didn't see any bent pins, installed either ram stick in the correct slot in the Mobo, no dice. Still 2 red LEDs, same as before.

You can try and update the BIOS if the CPU needs a special version to run properly.

Yeah, was just gonna say that

That's also my last guess. 😅

Would resetting the CMOS battery do anything?

I'd look in the MOBO manual on how to best reset CMOS before just ripping the battery out though.

Fair

I have reset the CMOS already, it was a jumper. I haven't updated the bios, but the CPU is on the supported list of my motherboard

I have taken my Mobo out, found that I had a standoff too many, but it didn't look like it could short something over there. I'm now trying again, but with the inboard gpu, and absolutely nothing connected that isn't needed

I have left it "on" for 2 hours, nothing. I have removed the gpu and tried to use the onboard gpu, still nothing

It happened to me before, and I updated the bios and it worked for me

fresh pond
#

Really? I will try that next, thanks.

Get a memory stick and go and download your motherboard bios. At least it worked for me

#

Mine was ryzen 5 7600x and MSI 650s motherboard I think.

I am having a similar issue on a 7600x and gigabyte aorus b650 elite ax

I am currently flashing the new bios, will report back if that fixed it

I think I have a dead motherboard

No lights or what so ever?

Sadly again nothing.

I have sent an email to the company that sold me the parts, and I am waiting for a response. (Probably after the weekend).

#

Here is a list of everything I tried so far btw:
Reseated cpu an ram,
Tried each ram stick separately in the right slot according to mobo manual,
Checked if there are bent pins in the CPU slot,
Cleared the CMOS
Updated the bios
Leaving it "on" for a while (2+ hours multiple times),
Replugged all the power cables,
Removed the Mobo to see if anything was shorting underneath,
Removed my gpu and tried to use onboard graphics,
Trying without tentioning the CPU cooler screws

Hahdja

#

It's working with one ram stick!

sweet shuttle

Yeah, they be like that

New pc only booted once with one ram stick

#

So I tried getting 2 ram sticks to work, but now none are working again. I'm still not sure if it's a slot issue, ram issue, or no issue at all just memory training being weird.

#

Oh no

fresh pond
#

I'm currently just trying random stuff. Different configurations of slots, turning it off and on again, clearing CMOS every now and then, completely turning off the power now and then. everything.

#

I even put my pc in different orientations to see if that makes a difference.
