Hi everyone ! I recently built a friend his conputer with the 12900k but I cannot manage to activate all of his cores, somehow wanted to try swapping him to win 11 (we both hate it) but cannot activate the secure boot, before i manage it i was asking myself why on heart does his pc show 6 cores 12 threads (12900k) and mine shows all 12 cores 20 threads (12700) ?
#12700 vs 12900k cores

resset bios?
if that dont work check msconfig
showing 12 in msconfig, since we're gonna look at it today again i'm gonna see if a new bios version is available for him (new mb btw, z790-p prime wifi)
wait is the box ticked?
it is
thats why
shoud be unticked
that limits threads
imma look at it in a few
unticked=all
yet it only show 12 in it as a 12900k it is still weird
send iamge
idk what your try to say in terms of what its showing
for example this is mine (checked the box to show the said cores)
my 12700k
and what's inside
untick the box and reboot
untick the box and reboot
this is mine for example only
it was and remained unticked in mine
send image of hwinfo64 in case its doing the thing
give me 3 min
when I arrive in front of his pc i'll fw it
if i recall mscofig cant set higehr then what was set
just checked if you set EG 10 then it sets you can not see more then 10 till you untick and reboot
posting mine as a reference, gonna head in a few minutes to his home
stop posting your
it's also for me
my appologies
arriving at his home I cannot compare them
thus why
this what looks like after setting 3 then reboting wher i have 8 normal
i hate windose
couldnt agree more
hwinfo64 shows all of them still
RIP its using the SMT over real core
cpu-z is less reliable for this ?
I see, when I checked it was at the same as the manager said (6/12) maybe that explains everything
since it gose 0,0ht,1,1ht,2,ht..... till gets to ecore at 17
since ever other thread is smt thread
then nice large block of e-core at end
want to enable/disable core/threads in bios vs wtf is windose doing?!?!?!?
RIGHT ?! Bios see them all and recognizes them
as in dont even use msconfig to disable core/thread bios give you option on what ones vs start at what ever order it is in windose
its a pain when you need to have core 3 second thread since its has lower latnecy then core 0 first thread
