Hi, I am planing to build a new PC Q1 2025 but I am a bit unsure what Motherboard to take. I am planing for a new Zen 5 AMD CPU (propably 7 9800X3D) and want to insert additionaly to the (at the time of buying best AMD) GPU, 3 PCIe 4x4 M.2 SSDs (or use just 2 PCIe 4x4 M.2s and a SATA SSD) and a USB PCIe Card and a Sound Card. That's why I am unsure what Motherboard to pick because I think I might run out of PCIe Lanes or bottleneck my GPU. Is there any way to see how the PCIe Lanes of a Motherboard are arranged so that I don't get any issues. Or is there a good recommendation for me. I don't care about aesthetics I just want it to work. I will mostly only use it for gaming but I am a data hoarder and have a lot of external Drives that I would like to have inserted all the time.

Do keep in mind what country, case, GPU, and budget you have for best fit/compatibility. Personally, I say just wait until you’re close to buying for recommendations. Boards tend to get cheaper with age, so sometimes the board you plan on getting NOW could be out-valued by another by then. Your motherboards manual or the specifications on the product page gives you a breakdown of how the PCIE lanes are distributed. USB cards I won’t say too much about, but do check the motherboard to see if they’ll come with sufficient USB ports for your needs or not. Not sure about a sound card in this day and age, since most of the time, boards usually come with good enough onboard audio.
That might be all right but I can't find a single Mainboard where I don't loose PCIe Lanes on the GPU when I insert more that 2 M.2 SSDs or even dare to insert an additional PCIe Card and that sucks.
get a board with pcie 5.0 and you will be more than fine
