My current specs are:

MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI
Ryzen 5 3600
GTX 1660
16GB VENGEANCE RGB PRO 3200Mhz
EVGA 600W PSU

Im looking to upgrade my gpu since im seeing i need it alot more now especially with the new call of duty and many other titles. Im currently looking at the 3060 and 4060.

The 3060 has my attention due the the 12gb of vram. Ive been seeing alot of people saying about how 8gb is starting to not be enough for some titles and that if ur looking to do some other stuff then just gaming that 12gb is nice. I mostly game but sometimes i will do some editing and photoshopping and record my gameplay/stream.

4060's performance looks a little bit better and it seems that the dlss and frame gen stuff is way more efficient. Ive also seen that the card itself is just alot more power efficient but i will not get the 12gb of vram which again people are saying will be a issue in the future.

I need your opinions or recommendations on what to do/go for. Thank you all in advance.

I would rather no AMD card recommendations, i know they are good at cheap performance but ive always been with NVIDIA so its just what im used to.

Yea that's the thing

#

Even though you don't want amd, the 6750 xt blows them to pieces at the same cost.

#

And on another note that PSU may need to be changed

The 3060 12GB simply won't be powerful enough to really utilize all 12GB of VRAM in games. That's why people say VRAM isn't everything when it comes to a card. Sure the 4060 has efficiency on it's side, but it's not a significant boost from the 3060 in terms of performance, as well as being limited by the 8GB of VRAM. Why not try AMD cards? You are correct on it's price-to-performance, since they offer better raster and are more generous with the VRAM. Your PSU does matter too a bit.

am i still able to do this gpu upgrade without upgrading the psu just yet?

#

yea the amd price to performance is so good. but nvidia is just home for me plus the nvenc encoding is pretty sweet along with the dlss.

4060 is just a better card yes

It can be that or the n1

Both are terrible

# obtuse rock looks like the exact one in my case

If you’re running the W1 then no, it’s not safe to upgrade to a new GPU. The N1 and W1 are group regulated, which is cheaper and crappier to make compared to better independently regulated units.

will also run any CPU that u can put in AM4
im currently running a ryzen 3600 myself with a 4070, bc my 970 wasnt powerful enough for new releases anymore, as soon as i play a title where i need a better CPU, or the 5700x3d is at a good price again, i will upgrade to that and will be set for years and years, and u could look to do sth very similar

#

on a be quiet pure power 11 500W btw

#

u could do 450/500W as well. just make sure its a B tier.
500/550 should be the most power efficient, whilst going with 600/650 has a great great chance that u dont need a new PSU when u do your next GPU upgrade

even 500w will be enough but it NEEDS to be a B tier PSU
otherwise a 600W C tier would do the trick, but i would either go with 500W b tier to save some money, or 600W B tier so u dont need to upgrade whenever u go from the 4060 t oyour next card

#

PSUs are most powerefficient at 60% load,
on average a pc is at 50% of max load, and your pc has an estimated load of 375W with the current CPU, but once u get ur next CPU that will be around 410, as the top end AM4 CPUs are all 105W and 99% of times its the 5700x3d as its dirt cheap and only slightly worse than even the literal best gaming CPU out there

#

therefor 500W will be most powerefficient right now, but it wont be a big difference

#

its really up to u

#

ur the best thank you so much for explaining everything. ima get looking now for a psu

#

just use a price comparison site, sort by cheapest

#

and then use the PSU tier list and press CTRL+F for the name
