The B550m MSI Pro VDH Wifi is at the same price, it’s a no brainer considering it performs better VRM wise. You can also upsize to the B550 Aorus Elite AX so you have a matching ATX board in an ATX case. Tradeoff is that you get no USBC for your case if that’s important for him.
If you’re looking for a 1TB drive, the SN580 isn’t at a bad price. SN770 is something you can consider as well. At the bit higher performing end, there’s also the US75 and VP4300 Lite.
