#Small upgrade for PC
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
total budget? aesthetics? hardware preference?
Motherboard but not cpu?
10400f isn't the worst out there
But it's trash
Ofc
I say a 5 7600 and a b650 with 6000mt cl30 2x16 ram will be the smart move and a xt pro ultra
Or tbh, making a whole new pc might be the best move
He plays what he wants fine, but his pc just gets hot
And he said he wants a new case anyway. Not sure if it's worth pulling the old hardware out
Tbh just do maintenence and save up for a new pc
^^^
Only thing worth anything might be the psu but I also do feel like it's not, so a new pc might be the best move
psu/gpu are immediates for me
1650 wasn't great to begin with
and it's probably some chinesium psu brand
Even then, why should he get a new build completely
Depends how much more it'll be actually
All the parts are ass
i mean case/mobo/ram/psu is pretty much a new build anyways
Yeah I was gonna say
Just cpu and gpu which is a bit more expensive but he can just sell parts from his current shit
Yup
Idk if he'll be able to sell the build as a whole though
Or sell the entire pc
assuming he'll want to take the ssd out to use in a new system
Or if he would just get rid of it and use the free windows
It's 512GB
ngl i'd just clone the drive to a different one
Yeah I dont know how he's managing tbh
512 is pretty much useless as an nvme
Windows key is stored on the mobo
He's got bo6 and gta on his pc. That alone probably take up 80% ๐
Ah
the first thing i'd get before actually building is an ssd to clone the current one to
No
guh?
Cloning a os drive tends to be pretty dumb 90% of the time
There are so many things when it comes to a OS to where Cloning it and using it on another computer will just give you issues
@stuck sinew@orchid sealSo if he were to swap cpus
What would be a good choice? For gaming
Not for lga1200
Cos if he's going to swap boards
I told him getting a new cpu would probably be better long term, cos when he goes to upgrade properly it saves getting a new board etc
how do you think
its bad in the way that its a ok config but if he were to upgrade any part the rest of the parts would not even be close to holding it all up
Soo.
He practically would be, minus the gpu? lol
That's why I'm asking what's worth swapping to.
He'd be building everything new minus gpu and ssd
gpu is ass
cpu is ass
only a 8GB ddr4 stick
only 512GB but is ok but i would still go 1TB
and the rest i dono but i do not have any high hopes
well i told you
here
Which b650 or does it not matter? Just go for cheapest?
but what would be the max budget and where will it be built
i can make a list
If that's not an issue. He hasn't really got a budget he just wants to upgrade but he doesn't know what.
I'm doing it for him but part picking isn't really my thing
well it is mine
but i do need to know a budget or at least something close to a budget
Could u work with ยฃ300?
f
Take that as it's not a great price to work with
like i say most of the time, get a used ryzen computer and slap a 5 3600 and some 6600+ gpu in it and have a good time
but it would not be a massive upgrade
so for now i say save up
and slap in another stick of ram when waiting
I mean he wants a new case for aesthetics & to have a cooler system as his is getting quite hot when not doing much he said
get a fan in le ass of the case and the issue should be fixed with some hope
or just go for my beloved xt pro ultra
For ยฃ80 there's definitely better options lol
But as discussed before, if he's getting a new case I recommended at least a new psu as well. And then if he gets a new board, if the 10400f isn't great then he may aswell get a new cpu as well and sell his current one
He's not doing anything crazy. Just stuff like gta, occasionally cod, euro truck sim
Ok so if he's going to get a new board, psu and ram what would you recommend?
i say, go for a total of 16GB of ram then case and then gpu
Case I'll just look around with him and see what he likes
he does not need a new board
nor psu
What so just strip the chinese branded psu from his prebuild? ๐
well it works
Not sure what board he's got but I think it's ddr3
In that case just get a new case and some ddr3 ram?
it cant be ddr3 no matter what
get 2 8GB sticks of ram to start of with
So what do I need to do for him if he gets a new case and ram? Just take the lot out, io shield etc
And just take everything from the prebuild and throw it into the new case
I think a lenovo?
Yeah a lenovo
the inside of it too
not good
i do believe it uses proprietary parts, so no changing case
so just upgrade ram and thats it, save up and then get a actual computer
If he wants a new case what's the harm in doing so
well the motherboard will not fit
Is it really that big of an issue to get a new one though?
changing the motherboard would mean also changing the psu
I'll have to get him to take the panel off
and now the only usable parts for a actual upgrade is the cpu and ram and nothing else
And see if he can put any fans in for better airflow
Yeah he has a similar issue to when I did mine though
When I upgraded my prebuild I got a new case, board, psu, ram, cooler
What's a good 16gb kit of ram to get
Ok thank you
He asked how much swapping parts would be I just said no real point if ur keeping same cpu and gpu
Cos not much will change
I just need to try get him to get the side panel off so I can see if he can fit anymore fans on
So he has some money he could use to do a proper upgrade, he plays at 1080p, Idk if that could change in the future but for now what would be a upgrade worth doing for 1080p gaming?
tbh the only thing i can be sure of that will work with the computer is a ram upgrade
Yeah that's all I'm thinking about lol
Doubt there's any room for anymore fans
I think the case is fully closed off as far as airflow goes. Apart from the side by the GPU and at the back
yup
Would it be possible for you to do a list for him ?
Wish I could help him out a bit more when it comes to picking
i would save up 600-800ยฃ+ before thinking of buying a pc
Can he not just stay on lga1200 ?
the 5700X3D is a good pick
or just the plain 5700x if that's a little much
am5 has the massive benefit of well ofc am5 and you can upgrade later
^^^
I'll just get him to get a new kit of ram
ye
He says his pc is getting hot but 70c playing gta is normal on a single fan card
Average temp as well lol
Not like it's running at 90
anything under 90c is more then fine for the cpu and gpu
I don't live at home so can't properly show or help him lmao
I did tell him I dont see the point in upgrading if ur not having any issues currently, although the ram is the only thing I recommended before
If he isnt upgrading his gpu I dont see the point in doing anything
Haven't got a clue. I just said as well, I'd only upgrade when you want or need a new GPU as hes playing what he wants fine.
And like you said, no point investing into a dead socket cos if he wants to get a decent upgrade it means getting a new cpu and board lol
So just a waste
this is why i just hate shitboxes
Yeah lmao
Im going to do another upgrade on my pc at some point as im on ddr4 with a 13600k and 7900xtx ๐
And 1080p as well
@stuck sinewWould u be able to makea list for ยฃ600
He's pissing me off I told him hes wasting his time if he doesnt have a budget
Fucking muppet ๐
And he finally said ยฃ600
and he can probably sell his current cpu and gpu for ยฃ150 so that could be put toward a gpu, only if waited Ig
