Pc turned off monitors and fans went 100%, help.

Hi I was playing “no man sky” when my monitors suddenly went black and fans turned up to 100% speed. I was still able to hear sound or talk on discord but couldn’t do anything. Had to force shutdown my pc and it didn’t turn back on.

Unplugging everything and turning PSU off and back on again before trying power button made it click two times and not turn on. I’m unsure if it’s the PSU that broke or something else

Also, this sounds like an issue I had a few times with my 13700k when it had the high voltage issue. So, if you have a 13600/700/900, or 14600/700/900 series cpu, make sure you are on the latest bios

I know the latest driver by nvidia had issues where it was cranking up the cpu causing issues, feel free to look it up. It's possible that you just need to roll back a fee drivers.

But I can’t even start the pc anymore

Like not even a fan comes to life when I click power

Oh, didn't see it didn't turn back on. That changes things.

Unplug the gpu and take it out entirelly, and plug an hdmi cable into the cpu on the back of the motherboard. See if it boots then.

I can do that but wouldnt at least any fan come to live a little bit if I click power regardless if components besides psu are defect?

It's still getting power, fans spinning would be normal. But if it's dead it's not getting the software to tell it how to control them properly

I would have expected the psu to at least come to life, since it only does 2 click noises. Tomorrow I'm getting a psu replacement hoping its that, if not I will start with the gpu

I would hate if the gpu died

I'd try the igpu first before even ordering a psu

Yup, it seems like either the gpu died or the slot on the motherboard. If I remove it the pc boots

I don’t think repairing it would be worth it, I’m not even sure where I’d go for that

You could order another gpu off Amazon, slap it in, see if it works. Up to you if you want to keep the gpu or return it. Or, get a used one you know works, or borrow one to make sure it's not the slot.

You have options though.

Least now you can save for another gpu, glad you were able to figure out what was wrong.
