Well, alright, something did not sit right with the automod/filter thingy thing. I don’t really know what, but I guess I’ll never find out.

Here we go again:

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the iMac onto a monitor arm?
It’s the iMac 5k 27” 2017 model and as far as I know that’s the model where you can’t get rid of the stand and substitute it with a vesa mount. That’s why the other monitor isn’t on an arm yet either. Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve that? I really do not want to torture the books the iMac currently resides on any longer.

Couple of notes:
iMac is my work PC (working as a designer, so screen space and color are a big plus). I also use it for music/recording/video editing, for the same reasons.
MacBook Air M1 is my daily driver for university (studying computer science).
On the right is a MSI GF75 9SD thin, rocking some older HW (9th gen i7, GTX 1660ti, 16GB RAM), which is fine for me, as I rarely take the time to game anyway. Its setup as dual boot, running Win11 (for gaming) and Ubuntu for specific programming tasks. Every machine is connected to the 32” dell monitor because of … well, it’s huge.

Also, Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3S are the best keyboard and mouse, change my mind.

I wouldn’t doubt that the Mx master 3s is good, but idk about the keyboard. I’d have to try it

It's really, really good. My partner's a bit sensible when it comes to keystroke noises, and this is the one keyboard I've been able to type my usual typing speed as quiet as possible (typing on any MacBooks keyboard (Air or Pro alike) is way louder and clickier, according to him, eventhough the profile is lower). I like having a keyboard with some height, but not as much as the average gaming keyboard.
Also being able to switch between all three machines through the keys is efficient enough (although I still have to figure out how to assign it to Ubuntu as well, because the MAC is different for both OS', so I'll essentially need to copy the MAC windows uses to connect to the keyboard and drop it into Linux bluetooth connections; it's a bit of a hassle).
in all seriousness, though: you should try it out! I think I might get a wristrest sometime in the future, but the keyboard itself is flat enough that it shouldn't be necessary for the average person (I just have crappy wrists, lol)

My recommendation, a lot of tape and superglue

I don't remember how heavy those macs are and if this would even be possible, if you or a friend has a 3d printer you could probably create a sleave that attaches to the Mac stand with a vesa mount on the back of it

Yeah, I've seen those sleeve things I just don't really like them and thought maybe some people way smarter than me might come up with a better solution. Those will probably be my fallback, though. Due to the weight of the thing I'll probably order some made of metal, because yes, 3d printed stuff can be quite durable, but I wouldn't really trust it in this case to be honest (and I'm sick of recalibrating the Ender3 every five minutes, so for now no working 3d printer in this household, haha).
