Why specifically ryzen?
High single core performance + I use it for my hosting company, have great experience
1st gen ryzen had meh single core compared to intel iirc
max budget?
money isnt an issue just looking for the most price to performance mix
a ryzen 7 5700X or G would do good
pair that with an A520 or decent B550 and you're golden
You don’t need integrated graphics tho
no but running it with an igpu can leave the pcie slots all free for lsi hba cards or whatever
dont the g series cpus have less pcie lanes anyway?
but also, i have a 3600 in my server and i just dont have a gpu at all. i use the Proxmox Web UI
a few less than non-apu ones yeah but still enough tbh to make up a small time server
Would it though? The 5700G delivers 8c/16t also at €200 cheaper than 8700G
(both with cheapest mobos available for me)
the thing is, with the 780m that's on the 8700g you've got an igpu that's equal to a gtx1650/ 1060(3gb) rather than an igpu equal to a gt 1030, and with the way ddr5 is you could have even better performance for the system i.e. 2x 48gb kit of ddr5
