#PC wont boot with a ram installed on slot 1
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
The motherboard is bad because if you can run it on slot 2 not 1 then there is a problem with it.
i want to test it
can i just put in another CPU into the mobo?
i want to borrow my friend CPU
@terse linden Not just any other CPU, it has to be the same socket and "generation".
Which board is it?
LGA 1151
its the same socket and the same gen "6 gen"
mine is i5 6600
i know a friend that have something similar, its an i5 6500
LGA 1151 was used for more than two generations so it was artificially separated
If you have a 6600, any 6000 and 7000 series will work fine (If the BIOS is updated to support 7000 series)
Sure
also just asking, would installing a different CPU to my PC do anything to windows?
if you have TPM youre screwed
whats tpm
and how do i check if i have one?
@terse linden TPM doesn't matter, it's whether you have Bitlocker or any other encryption
ok so i tried it with my friend I3 6100 and my PC just wont boot with it
it still works qith my CPU dont worry
also i have a question
my CPU is kinda chipped on the sides near the pin, it didt hit the pin but just slightly chipped
would that affect it?
i dont want to take out my CPU rn so ill take an image online
Hard to know.
i found a similar picture, the chip is on the right side
this is not i5 6600 but the chipping is similar
it still barely works with both ram stick before
but just yesterday it doesnt
i said barely because it sometimes crash before
i havent crashed yet since i took a ram from slot 1
