What jjtb7 said; any gen is compatible, but there's no point in buying anything beyond a Gen4 drive given what your motherboard supports. (I'd even argue to save a few bucks using a Gen3 drive because of SEE BELOW.)

just get slower of the speed combo and depends on the cpu like if you get 10700k pcie gen 3

Most welcome! If Gen4 vs Gen3 SSD prices are very similar in your location, go with whatever is the best price / capacity known-name-brand drive.

However, most people won't ever notice a real world different between Gen3 and Gen 4 drives, so there's no point spending gobs more money on a Gen4 drive if Gen3 is significantly cheaper in your area.
