Random colored display when crashing

I have a pc that keeps crashing when i launch a game even tho temps are normal for the gpu but the cpu is on the higher end

I re-applied thermal paste for the cpu and thought i might as well re-apply to the gpu ( i have a gtx 1050 msi twin frozer) when i took the gpu apart i found that the VRAMs looks burned of some sort

Is this normal or is it the cause of the problem?

It works normally on desktop, google, youtube but when i launch a game the screen turns black and the audio keeps playing but really laggy, discord does the same i speak and hear my friends but it's really laggy the turns off all audio and the display lights up with a single colour (red, blue, green) last 2 times were white and light purple

The stains around the chips is normal, I've seen the same on multiple cards before and it doesnt cause issues.
Could you list your full specs as well all the remedies you've tried so far?

I have a

Gigabyte A320-m MB
Ryzen 5 3600
32 gb 3200 ram
550 watt antec psu
500 gb intel ssd
500 gb toshiba HDD

I took apart the cpu cooler and cleaned it and re-applied thermal paste

Looks like it's working good but cpu temps are really high, so am gonna get a new cooler soon

How high are the CPU temps?

45-60 desktop

Shot up as high as 85 on minecraft

It's a bit high yeah, the TjMax for that chip is at 95°c so it's at least not cooking itself yet

It's still a bit early to say what might be the actual cause for this, think you could run something like Furmark to see if it immediately causes the issue to repeat itself? That way we'll know for sure if it's GPU related or if the issue is likely elsewhere.

I didn't even risk doing anything once i saw the 85 on minecraft

Gonna try furmark rn and see what happens

This is after 3-4 mins on prime95 but still haven't crashed

Prime95 is quite CPU intensive so it's bound to hit TjMax especially on a stock cooler

what about the furmark tho?

Furmark maxes out at 92 c

The crashes must've been a loose pcie cable or clogged cpu cooler

Furmark should've caused the issue to reappear basically the moment you launched it

so that more or less rules out a hardware issue on the graphics card side

Either way am gonna get some upgrades for the pc

Which gpu do u recommend to pair up with the 3600 for mostly fps gaming?
