it might be a dead fan or bad thermal paste, try to download hwmonitor and check what the temps are while gaming

that's thermal throttling

#

most likely

knotty wraith

since most CPUs have either 70C or 90 C as the thermal limit

Laptops are especially good starting points as long as you don't touch the board

#

so, I fixit's page is blank about the katana

knotty wraith
steady pelican
grand sentinel
#

but i guess just open it up, remove both fans and heat sinks (there may be hidden screws) look for a metal chip like item with green PCB below it and clean it

#

then reapply thermal paste

#

i recomment Noctua NTH-5

  1. Open the laptop up

  3. make sure the heatpipe is level get a table or smth
  4. clean thermal paste
  5. apply thermal paste onto the silicon chips
  6. reassemble all except the case
  7. put onto a heat resistant mat
  8. turn on and check temps and stability (recommended 15 minutes of gaming or 5 minutes of stress testing)
  9. if it doesn't work come back
  10. reassemble

no

#

they can't be trusted

#

you can mail it in to a laptop specialist

#

btw any heat resistant material would be ok as long as it does not transmit electricity
