This blue screen?
Just the first boot or every boot? Are you able to get into Windows?
Sometimes
Are you in Windows now?
I can go in windows with save changes & reset
Go to C:\Windows\Minidump and check if you have any minidump files. If you do, go back to the Windows folder and copy the Minidump folder itself to the Downloads folder (You can use the desktop if you don't have OneDrive syncing files). Zip the copied folder and attach it to a post. Please follow the instructions to the letter as Windows doesn't like you messing with files in this location.
One sec
Click Continue
Ok, go back and copy the folder itself, not just the files inside, to a different location. Windows doesn't like you messing with files here so we copy them out.
Then zip the copied folder, upload the zip to Discord
here in this chat?
Yes
@pearl vapor You can do rar with winrar
compress to minidump rar
Zip is also built into Windows if you do Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.
Sure
@pearl vapor You only BSOD on startup?
This blue crash
BSOD = Blue Screen of Death
@pearl vapor It's stuck on 0%?
The dump files are crash logs from those BSODs, but these go quite far back in time. So it seems like it's not able to save most of the recent crash logs. That's why it's at 0%
The oldest of the five is from November 2023
pfff
The most recent is from the 23rd of june 2024, the second newest is from April
The newest though, it shows an issue with the NVMe. And if storage is bad, it can't save the dump file because the drive has been taken offline.
Which would also explain why it boots to the BIOS on the next boot
So the NVMe being bad would be my main suspect
SSD that looks like this:
oh yeah
Storage drive
What I would do, back up any data you need and replace it.
You could also try a different motherboard slot if your board has multiple M.2 slots (The connector for these is called M.2)
A faulty SSD is way more common than a faulty motherboard slot, but it does happen from time to time
That would be my main suspect at least.
The latest crash blames an NVMe SSD. It not being able to dump data on the BSOD screen and it not finding the SSD on the next boot and instead goes to the BIOS.
You have the ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING motherboard
yeah
You have M.2 slots in these two locations:
The top one is really close to the GPU. You can see this cause overheating because of the heat from the GPU.
So if you use the top slot you should definitely try moving it to the bottom one.
yeah it is on the top slot
Try that first. Same issue, try a different SSD.
changing this slot wont change anything on the pc?
No
but if that doesnt work i need to change the ssd?
Most likely. It could also be a faulty motherboard, but SSDs die all the time, motherboards don't die that often.
all right
ill try changing the slot
if it doesnt work i will tell you
is there any specific brand of this ssd
👍
that i should buy
Eh, not really, but there are tons and tons of crap chinese brands on Amazon that I would avoid. As long as it's a brand you recognize like Samsung, Kingston, Western Digital (WD), OCZ, Crucial,, etc
allright
thank you for help
