Earlier I was installing a steam game on my 2nd SSD and I left the room, nothing weird happened in this time, no power outages or surges. I come back to my PC and its back on the lock screen, So I unlock it to see if my game installed and my SSD no longer shows up on Windows but shows up in my bios, I have had this PC for a few years and have no idea what happened, I have a lot of stuff on the 2nd SSD.

I have restarted it twice now and already unplugged it to see if it'd work
SSD Gone randomly
Visible in disk manager? In bios? What kind of ssd is it, m.2 or sata?
Does not show up in Disk manager. Shows up in Bios, M.2 SSD
I have had it rescan and nothing ever shows up
you can try reseating it. thats the only thing i can think of
Yeah reseating it is all I can think of too. I just wanted an input before I did
or clear the cmos of your motherboard
I'll try reseating then cmos
reseating worked, I still am not sure what happened and my game didnt even finish installing
I'm guessing cable/connection came loose and reseating helped. Vibration does that sometimes, from fans or hdds.
yeah thats possible, It had a bunch of steam games on it that I gotta fix now, verifying integrity and such
I don't think your steam install had anything to do with the issue, it just happened while you were installing stuff.
yeah I dont think it was Steam I just gotta go through the games that are on it and see if I need to fix any or all
well we thought it was fixed, it just disappeared again
if it shows up again, look at their smart values
im gonna have to reseat it again
If it keeps disappearing and reappearing I'm gonna guess it's dead, it's done for??
ye
Well shit
This ssd is newer than my boot drive ssd is. I have no idea how it could've gotten damaged like this
what drive?
It's just an SSD, I have 3 storage devices, 2 SSDs and an HDD, the SSD that is failing I bought a year or so ago. Do you want the brand or something??
ideally model
that is one of the highest endurance drives
That's crazy
and also has a 5 year warrenty, i believe, so you might be able to RMA it if it dies
Yeah it does have a 5 year warranty, I have the box right here
I haven't reseated it again yet
This is stressful
try a different m.2 slot if possible
I only have 2 slots. The top slot is my boot drive and other files
same thing happened to me lol but worse, i went to the store while downloading a game and my ssd just died, had to get a new one
The other one is on the bottom one
Dang. I am super surprised this SSD did this, it really only had games on it but it's still annoying I need a new one
It only disappeared again once I restarted my PC. Does that help anything ?
No, that's the thing i didn't do
try it
I only reseated so far
okay. reseated and removed cmos, it showed up again, im gonna let it run, restart it and see what happens
well this is the conclusion everyone, it dissapeared once again, RIP SSD, I should be able to get a new one due to warranty
thanks for all the help, sadly the worst happened
