#Intel or AMD?

What of these cpu brands is better for gaming at mid range budget (around I5-12600KF and R5 7600?) I heard that Ryzen have more L3 cash and lower peak wattage but Intel has more cores and threads, more GHz, less average power consumption, but less motherboard support and less L3 cash. Also should I wait for Socket 1851?

AMD

intel have chips that use 400W just to be worse then amds 80w/125W 7800X3D chip

#

if you want to upgrade all the way up to 2027+ go AMD AM5

#

and intels cores are a lie, as its filled with E cores that are just bad for gaming while all the cores of an AMD are real P cores.

under gaming the e cores are not used

from what i can see the 7600 is a small bit better then the i5 12600kf

#

and if you want more power for gaming you will also be able to upgrade to the best gaming cpu the 7 7800X3D or a top productivety cpu the r9 7950X, and you will still be able to upgrade in 3 years with the latest and greatest while lga 1700 is just dead

what, the i9 15900ks is not even out yet

#

so how do you know the preformance of it

#

did i ever say anything about a r9 8950X3d?

#

and no they do not just look at the 7800X3D, its better then all intel cpues at gaming

#

and only consumes 125W max but normally stays way under

The 9950x3d, not the 8950x3d, looks like it’s going to have all 16 cores with 3d vcache, and amd is also going to allow overclocking. There will be nothing to match ryzen 9000 x3d

#

ye the new marketing/ branding

light cave
#

It’s going to be the core ultra 9 285k

#

Which is….something

proper prawn
#

i do not like the new name

#

i just hope they fix the issues 13-14th gen cpues have, but i wonder how performance on the new chips will be then as the way intel even got close to amds gaming performance was to start damaging their own cpues by allowing so much power into them

If the clockspeeds of ryzen 9000 x3d are comparable to their regular counterparts, they will be some absolute beasts. All will be as capable or more capable than the new intel cpus for streaming (and you should use av1 on the gpu anyway, which doesn’t touch the cpu)

#

Its the core ultra 9 285k
And the 9950x3d

#

bro i know its only EXAMPLE

#

anyway thx for discussion

#

how do i close it

true

You can add the solved tag

#

ryzen is the king of gaming

rugged glade
light cave
#

Eh

#

Streaming should use the gpu tbh, and the only reason an intel cpu might be better in productivity is because of stupid application preference

proper prawn
#

intel have had way too much money for way too long and have payed applications to be more efficient with their cpues

light cave
#

Ryzen 7000 should be the same as 13th gen for productivity. The clockspeeds are basically the same, as well as the thread count

#

We’ll see how intel’s “efficient non-hyperthreaded” cores do for “core ultra 200” (😫)

#

Because intel is dropping hyperthreadding for some reason

proper prawn
#

i suspect gaming on intel for the next gen will be worse for most games as they are made for lots of threads

#

and is why a 10 year old xeon is still usable in modern games

light cave
#

Because 3.4GHz boost for 6-8 cores is fine for most games

#

Wait what

games

#

most modern game engines are made with the intent of using as many threads and cores as it can
