the 7600 is fairly weak

i would rather have support until 2027, as well as the price to performance and efficany of the cpu is still insane.

gloomy warren
#

did you check with your friend if he wants that case or not

rose scroll
#

yes

rose scroll
gloomy warren
#

it's a pretty solid case, especially for how much it costs, but I usually check with my friends whether they like the looks of the case

#

16GB of memory will prove to be problematic

#

since it's a gaming computer, I would get a 2TB ssd, considering one game can use 50-100GB nowadays

#

great choice on the power supply and motherboard

the 7600 comes with a cpu cooler, so your friend can buy the cpu cooler later if they find that it's too noisy

#

otherwise, the included cooler is plenty

rose scroll
#

first config i went with but found out a peerles assais with the 7500f and pbo is cheaper as shipping is free but pcpart picker has some issues

gloomy warren
#

ah, but getting a 7600, which likely has a better bin and an iGPU, can become handy for troubleshooting

rose scroll
#

i work with a lot of computers as well as he has technical people close so that's not an issue and he plans to upgrade so a good cooler with a slightly worse like 2-3% is not too big of an issue

gloomy warren
#

although, I'm not sure how much more expensive the 7600 is over the 7500F + peerless assassin

rose scroll
#

its about the same in price but with it he gets a great and quiet cooler that will make upgrading easy

gloomy warren
#

that's a fair point. although. I don't really like the noise profile of the fans used in the peerless assassin

#

it has this noticeable hum sound at around 900-1100 rpm, which is what most people set it for normal loads

#

but it doesn't really matter once it's spinning at higher speeds, since it's going to make noise regardless

rose scroll
#

i think he is just gonna stuff the pc under his desk so i do not think its gonna matter too much

#

and btw its a first time build so he dose not have a library of games so its why i chose a fast boot drive over a large drive

gloomy warren
#

the sn770 is also fairly fast, I think the difference is less than 1 or 2 seconds for boot times

rose scroll
#

ye nothing huge but still think it might be more worth to start off with a 1TB and just upgrade if he needs it as he has a second slot

#

rn he just wants to play OW2 and fortnite

gloomy warren
#

500 nok for double the storage is pretty desirable for me, but it'll all depend on how they'll use their computer

#

I store some movies on my computer, and they take up about 500gb, and along with other files it quickly fills up

#

but, ow2 and fortnite uses very little storage, so even a 512gb drive might be fine for them, if they aren't downloading a bunch of games at a time. 1tb is a good starting point then

rose scroll
#

he only has a total of 14 300nok to work with and needs a monitor as well and found a samsung g5 g55c (1440p 165HTz) for around 2 000nok

gloomy warren
#

oh that's a tighter budget than I anticipated

rose scroll
#

ye not easy

#

prices in norway are just bad when it comes to gpues

gloomy warren
#

I don't think getting a 850X is a sound idea then

rose scroll
#

tbh same here but the way he wants to make the pc i thing having a good base is a good idea and then build from their

gloomy warren
#

I have a slightly different idea then

#

I think getting an mp33 pro is a better alternative to the 850x

#

once they have a bit more disposable income, they can switch to using the mp33 pro as a secondary drive instead of the main drive, which can be a bit tedious. But, if they're not storing a bunch of important files, it should be a pretty quick operation

rose scroll
#

my go to drive at first was the A-Data XPG SX8200 Pro

gloomy warren
#

looks pretty good

rose scroll
#

he is also a bit 50/50 on getting a used gpu, rn its between getting the 7600 for 3573nok new vs a 6600 xt used for about 1700nok and the performance difference is about 10% give or take

gloomy warren
#

go used

#

even better if you can get a good deal on the 6700 XT or 6750 XT for around the same price as a new 7600

#

rtx 3060 12gb is also good if it's around the same price as that used 6600 xt, even if it's a bit higher

rose scroll
#

NO

#

no they ARE NOT

#

its about 2700nok for a used 3060

gloomy warren
#

maybe not worth it

rose scroll
#

ye nvidia used in norway is not good for your wallet

#

found a good 6700 xt for 3800nok

gloomy warren
#

hmm iffy

#

maybe if you can ask for a lower price

rose scroll
#

sent him a message

gloomy warren
#

considering how much vat cucks people in norway, ~3400 nok would be amazing, but 3500-3600 is probably more realistic

rose scroll
#

used stuff dose not get taxed and we see vat before purchase and pcpartpicker has vat pre applied

gloomy warren
#

yeah, I meant the seller buying the 6700 xt new

#

it wouldn't surprise me if the used market is a bit more expensive than the US

rose scroll
#

a bit

#

a SUPER used 6600 xt is about the same price as a new one in the us

#

and btw do not look at shipping as its free if you shop over 1000nok at the same time so its basically just free

gloomy warren
#

forgot about that

rose scroll
#

here is the upgraded list from atleast what i think might be a good build except the gpu

#

with the monitor too

gloomy warren
#

let me go through every part again to check if there are better deals

rose scroll
#

he wishes to keep it about 14 000nok total but can go a little over.

gloomy warren
#

looks good

#

although I might take a look at other monitor options

rose scroll
#

rtings dose review it quite well but fair enough it might not be the best

gloomy warren
#

the monitor is one of those things where it should be a good one from the start

rose scroll
#

its still a good one, but for now he wishes to get something good enough to see if he likes it but if not he will just sell it on the used market and buy something better.

gloomy warren
#

ideally it would be amazing if they could get their hands on a M27Q, as that's as good as a monitor can get without going into really expensive monitors

#

alternatively, you can look for 1080p monitors, but you do sacrifice quite a bit of visual fidelity

rose scroll
#

their is one on sale right now for 2 500nok

gloomy warren
#

they might have to wait a bit longer to save up, though

rose scroll
#

the main issue right now is that a lot of deals are going to stop on the 30th

gloomy warren
#

ah, then they'll have to choose

rose scroll
#

ye i will check with him

gloomy warren
#

the power supply and ram, that are on sale, are good to buy

#

and they're quite good parts

rose scroll
#

ye

#

750w of power is more then enough even if he wanted to upgrade with a 4090

#

one of his other friends said that he needed a minimum of a 850w psu

#

its also the same one that said that a 3060 12GB is 20%+ better then a RX 7600 in all gaming

gloomy warren
#

too vague

#

if that was in an essay, that gets an F

#

rx 7600 should have noticeably better rasterization performance

#

but, it would fall behind in tasks that utilize just above the 8gb vram limit, or in tasks that significantly favor cuda over amd's rnda 3 architecture

rose scroll
#

some games like amd other nvidia

#

and the first thing i do when looking at a gpu is check reviews

#

and ofc not just one video

#

update on the 6700 XT, he did not want to go lower

gloomy warren
#

ah

#

it's still a fine deal, so I would keep it in mind

rose scroll
#

4BG more vram and a good bit more performance with a way better cooler, so might try to do that one

rose scroll
# gloomy warren ah

i got a good update on the RX 6700 XT situation, i threw a low ball at him and he was willing to do 3 238 nok for it

gloomy warren
#

woah

#

even better than I anticipated

rose scroll
#

crazy part when he bougt it, it was 10 000nok

gloomy warren
#

likely bought it during crypto mining boom

rose scroll
#

nope norway is just that expensive

gloomy warren
#

wack
