there are thunderbolt egpu's that you can only use with thunderbolt.
there are also those m.2 to full pcie adapter boards that would likely work
but would it be cheaper than getting a new laptop?
if you can life with that "hacky" mod, then yeah it would be
ltt did a video on that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDyL2tPyXFA

yea but is there is updated one
its from 6years ago
but its still the same
nothing has really changed
but yeah
it was just the first vid that popped up to me
let me open up my laptop and send a pic here then could you tell me if its feasible
rather give the laptop and model name
i have no idea which it is
actually nvm
HP pivillion x360 14dh1178tu
this is it
ok it would be possible and would work
issue is you have to take out the nvme to insert the gpu
so with that you will need to boot via usb drive as far as i can see
its fine i already use a usb to book
then nothing stops you from doing this mod
ummm why is the cable 136.78 $
because this is for expresscard
rather look on aliexpress (if it is available for you)
banned in india
oh damn
you need the dock
the hdmi is only to interface with the dock and not with any display or other device
ah ok
but there are certanly cheaper docks
130$ are way too much
for that you can get a cheap thunderbolt dock (at least in germany)
but my laptop has no thunderbolt so i havent got a choice

yeah
but this was just a example, since thunderbolt is pricey af
is it fine too?
would be
but i see something
you have 3 options. first one is expresscard (which does not your laptop have)
second is mini pci-e, which is the wifi/bluetooth module.
and the third one which is m.2 m key, which is the nvme slot.
if you cant give up wifi/bluetooth, go for the m.2 key
well i'll see which is cheaper and order it
btw could you help out with one more thing
yeah sure
I just installed a bios update from lenovo vantage and the fans spun wayy more than normal, i could hear them from 5 meters away but when gaming or running a benchmark they dont spin up fast
i have my laptop pluged in and in performance mode
not sure why this is happening but i really dont need more thermal throttling
^
oh sounds like that lenovo did something with the new bios
not exactly my laptop still goes to 95c regularly
yes exactly it is
they certanly changed some fan parameters in the new bios
would say that you should report it to the support team
