Hey everyone,

I recently picked up an Intel i7-4790K and tested it with the seller in his basement where it worked without any issues. However, I'm running into a snag trying to get it to function with my ASUS Z87 Expert motherboard at home.

Here’s what’s going on:

The motherboard shows an error code 00 when I install the i7, which indicates it isn't detecting the CPU.
I’ve updated the BIOS to the latest version, cleaned the CPU socket thoroughly, and reset the CMOS.
Oddly enough, the motherboard works just fine when I revert back to my older Intel i5-4430.

I’m reaching out here hoping someone might have insights or advice. Have any of you experienced similar issues or know something I might be missing? Could there be known issues with this CPU and motherboard pairing that I'm unaware of?

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

00 means cpu abnormalities, not necessarily not detecting it. I would recheck the cpu, check the bottom capacitors if you accidentally knocked any off. Then check if any contact points are dirty or not making proper contact
