depending on what cpu you have and etc you can run on 550w just fine at full power since 3070ti pulls ~290w at full power. though note that 3000 series is known for large transient spikes which wont change even if you undervolt which can trip your psu
undervolting wont really change much while you wait for a 750w other than less performance

will tripping the power supply often affect any components and somehow damage them?

@trail cave If it's made well, it shouldn't damage anything. The protection should trip and the PC shuts down. If it's not made well, a fuse could blow and potentially damage parts.
