what's better 4 ram sticks all different at 2133 to make 32gb or 2 ram sticks running at 2400 to make 16gb this is a Lenovo laptop p51 also the 2 sticks (matching) running at 2400 are 3200 norm but mobo wont run them that high so what's the best for performance I've ran it with the 32gb config for awhile but i don't use that much ram.

32gig
is it due to 4 sticks being for efficient with quad channel memory .
No it’s just that the speed difference isn’t that much and 32 is better than that little bump in speed
even if the 4 sticks are all diffrent brands and speeds 2 are 3200 1 is 2400 other is 2133
Yeah they’ll All just run 2133 since it’s the lowest speed
I'd go with the 16 because having matching speeds is better for stability, and the speeds are literally just higher and it leaves open a quality future upgrade path.
And as a 32 GB user, you don't need 32GB, I never use more than 16GB unless I'm running a virtual machine
Only go 32GB if you genuinely need it for some crazy ram intensive stuff (not gaming)
And if you think maybe you'll need 32 in a month, you can just swap out for more ram when you need it if you don't put the screws in any of your laptops like me
thank you
You are bread
i dont like mixing ram
Also unemployment is the only reason I know this stuff
I'm too poor to pay someone else to do stuff for me
same
Then yeah you just don't need 32
uhhh 2017-2018
Also do you know what xmp is?
So you can run your ram at 3200
Cause it's probably why it's not running at the expected speed
It's called something else on AMD, no clue what
yes but this old laptop doesnt alow more then 2400mhz i looked for xmp 😦 i wish it could
Try to enable xmp in bios tho, it basically "overclocks" your memory to full speed with a simple off/on switch
