#I bumped the back of my PC and now it won't boot.

I have a 7800x3d and a gigabyte b650 gaming ax x mobo
The PSU also makes a click when I turn the PC on
.

.
.
It was not
It was on when I bumped it
.
.
I bumped the back of my PC with my knee while standing up and now it wont boot and
The fan RGB isn't turning on anymore but the fans itself are. Ive tried resetting and moving around the ram also tried resetting cmos. The dram debug light is on but the CPU debug light flashes when I turn it on and when I turn it off.
Everything turns on that's connected to the mobo except CPU and fan RGB I have one fan connected directly to the mobo instead of the hub and that only flashes when I flip the PSU switch and no other time
.
Well time to recheck ALL connections . as in remove all and rebuild?
could be a loosse connection, could be broken hardware 🤷🏻♂️ .
What I would do is If I wanted to use this pc.
remove motherboard from case, and build it up outside there,
since at this moment nothing is working I would disconnect the HDD / NVME, and start trouble shooting with the bare minimum of components.
- Motherboard.
- PSU
- RAM
- Processor.
nothing else, and connect the 24 pins + the pins on the left top.
- start the pc using a screwdriver, and see if all is okay, no debug lights, and start adding more components.
The GPU and stuff Is all turning on
Everything seems to be plugged in correctly it's just not booting
bro
you gotta be patient
dont expect someone to immediately answer within the hour
i would actually unplug the psu from the wall and maybe hold the power button to drain the capacitors in the psu
What wdym how am I being impatient
The dots are just to push it to top of support list
And I did do that
.
.
Doing that shows extreme impatience, is annoying, and makes the chances of actually getting help lower due to the spam in thread
Just let it sit and wait
At the minimum, bump it every 12hr
But as already suggested, pull everything out of the case and test barebones
I mean no one seeing it doesn't help either
Way more people see it than you think, it's just that not many people may either want to deal with helping or know how to
Yea I was planning on doing this but Im unsure what could be causing it in the first place so I don't think rebuilding will end up fixing it
I mean no one/less people seeing it because it falls
I think my mobo just has to be busted I don't understand what else
Or my ram but I really really doubt that
Gotta try it to figure it out, the bump could have just simply bent the case and smth could be shorting that isn't triggering power offs
Pc troubleshooting starts from barebones when all else fails, due to how many variables there are/could be
I guess then I would just need to bring it somewhere to test if it doesn't work anyway
But wouldn't shorting give other symptoms besides just not displaying?
Because everything turns on except the fan RGB but I think that's just because it's not being told to do anything
Because when I turn off and on the PSU switch the RGB flickers for a second
Fan only
Depends on what exactly is shorting out of the hundreds of capacitors/traces/etc
Say for example 2 pins to ram data are bridging, it may just prevent post but not stop it from trying
Idek how that would be possible tbh I bumped it from the back while the panel was on
And not even hard
Ig in thet situation I would still need to return the mobk
Sometimes the "impossible" just finds a way to happen
It's why you test everything from basics
Idk if it's worth bringing it somewhere or not
I guess I could order a new mobo to see if it fixes it and return if it doesn't
Pull from case and test first smh
It acts the exact same whether ram is in or not
You just leave the cooler off in tests like that right?
With newer hardware (like 2014+) optimally not, if temperature protection doesn't work you'll fry the cpu
Only takes a few seconds to hit 100c+
I was just Abt to take it apart so I could check everything to make sure but if something like this is happening how does me taking it out of the case help
It will be a busted mobo in or out of the case
because the short could be caused by the metal of the case
more common of an issue than you'd think
Deadass don't understand why you are so against just taking everything out and testing barebones
It's just a lot of work lol
For something thats probably not gonna change anything
Then just let it sit or waste the money on having it checked out by a repair place xd
You came here for help, and then are resisting the advice given
Im not resisting I just don't see the rationale the chance that the case is causing the issue is basically non-existent
there's a reason why i am now the second person to recommend doing it, just saying
He understand why you're saying it because it's just kinda a basic step so you can make sure everything is connected properly
But the only thing that could've been causing it if it was loose would be the CPU cable
But I already tried replacing it
Have you start taking it apart?
No I went to sleep after that message
Well take it apart
oh ok , must not be important
Your right I should've just went without sleep and stayed up the entire night
I'm gonna do it when I have a chance lol
ah okay, ill reply when I feel like it 🙂
I mean there's really nothing you can do to help me anymore lol I just take it apart and if it doesn't work something is busted in my mobo
I appreciate the help but I'm not gonna go without sleep to get you to reply to me
.
Lol?
Since when is anything tech related more important than sleep?
What busy for a while so waant able to get to it but I took everything out and the same thing is happening
@lusty ledge @jade drift
@indigo goblet
pic of setup
I ended up taking to some other people and it seems like I just need to bring it somewhere
I forgot I pinged you guys the second I did it MB
Wdym
Like bring it somewhere to fix it
I was talking in a diff server for the past two hours
Or well
It has to be mobo basically
But I don't want to risk it not being that and waste time
Do you know what you bumped
I bumped the back panel
But like I did terrible cable management
So it wasnt all the way on bc of the CPU cable
So I was thinking before I tried anything that I pinched it and broke it somehow
But I tried a new cable and some thing haopewn
