I don’t think you can direct die a 7800x3d

obsidian wigeon
#

Or you will kill the cpu

sacred nest
#

yes, this is assuming i have the thermal grizzly direct die kit

old arrow
#

That's VERY overkill

#

You can cool it will a AMD stock cooler without thermal throttling

Can’t even overclock it, what’s the point

#

Risking a $350 CPU for better temps when it consumes 90w on average

Why the fuck would you direct die cool a 100w max chip

#

That’d be like direct die cooling an i3

My cpu runs hot for some reason. Sits 55-60 idle without any heavy load on it with water cooling. Its not a bad mount or cooler setup since i used air cooler and the results were same

That’s normal

#

Unless what cooler do you have

Custom loop 2x 360 thick rads with ekwb velocity2

#

(the one linked)

My old cpu the 9700f used to idle at 80

#

But under load was at like 92 ish

#

And I had a 240m Rad on it

#

In safe mode. So there's was no 3rd party apps load as well

You'd be better off with these when they release

tired kite
#

Or just don’t direct die cool a 7800x3d bc it pulls under 100w

coral saffron
#

This is watercooling

#

Nothing makes financial or logical sense to do

tired kite
#

It’s not worth risking the chip when delidding it when literally any waterblock would suffice

coral saffron
#

Delidding is relatively risk free nowadays, especially with the tools that exist

I saw some delid vids of 7800x3d.
Do i need to use blade to scrape off the soldier from the chip itself?
