That looks like the internal video cable (LVDS) to me.

is there anything i can do

#

cuz i used to just leave it half the screen black and after like 5 mins it would go back to normal

You can try re-seating it. If it uses eDP it should be digital and that shouldn't happen (Digital is either on/off)

#

LVDS is analogue

sterile rock
#

can u explain in simple terms lol

@sterile rock External monitors work like normal?

sterile rock
#

ye

#

im using a laptop

foggy elbow
#

I noticed

#

LVDS is the older type of cable. It's analogue and analogue can have issues like this where the image just splits, parts are missing or you get a snow effect like on old TVs

#

Digital is either there or it isn't. So you don't really get this kind of effect.

sterile rock
#

so if i get a new lvds

#

and install it

#

it will be fine

#

i think ive got one

foggy elbow
#

Try just re-seating the cable. What model laptop is this?

I'm seeing shops that sell replacement LVDS replacement cables at least so it probably uses LVDS (It's aliexpress so it being a scammer isn't out of the question)

#

Going to check a video, sec

@sterile rock Also, we can't really know if it's the connection on the motherboard or monitor side. We just really hope it's the motherboard side because removing the bezel to get to it on the monitor side is a pain in the ass on most laptops

#

Is this the lvds cable or nah

foggy elbow
#

Doesn't look like it.

#

I found a video of guy doing a full disassembly on an FX506H which is hopefully quite similar inside

#

And to be clear, with re-seating, I mean just unplugging it and plugging it back in

#

The cable has a flip latch, you flip the latch up before you pull the cable out

#

You see where the red line ends, that's part of the hinge mechanism. This cable goes through the hinge so they can also die at this point from being flexed back and forth all the time. Replacing the cable means removing the bezel from the monitor as well. Which is not fun.

sterile rock
#

so i should try re seating it first and then if it doesnt work replace the cable

sterile rock
#

yo

What?

If re-seating doesn't work you should try to re-seat the panel side as well first. Then replace the cable.
