#New CPU unstable with high temps

I just swapped from a 12th gen intel CPU to a 14th gen, in a build using all the same parts as before except for the CPU. After this, my boot time has gotten noticeably longer as well as laggy (most likely due to thermal throttling), and the CPU is idling from 70c-100c. I have reset my bios to default, my AIO should be seated correctly with enough thermal paste and nothing has changed except for my CPU, my computer ran perfectly fine until I shut it down to change the CPU. Does anyone have some ideas on what the issue could be?

Disable multicore enhancement in the bios

I have a MSI bios so I disabled their equivalent of MCE Enhanced Turbo, and there seems to have been no effect.

#

Currently at 93-100c

Reseat the aio. That’s the only solution I see atm

Took off AIO, cleaned CPU, reseated, still at high idle temps

All cables are connected, and I can feel the pump going as well as hot and cold coolant moving through the tubes. I do not think the AIO is the issue since it was working for around 6-7 months at this point up until I swapped the CPU out and put it back on.

#

I ordered a USB stick to update bios, cause I do not have one lying around unfortunately so I will update here when the bios is updated.

Yes

the temperature is supposed to be even through out the loop if it functioned correctly

#

since you've only had the pump for 6-7 months, now would be a good time to claim a warranty on it

After letting it run for a couple of hours they seem to have evened out for the most part.

(The tube temps)

Alright, I will check cables one more time then contact corsair.

After reviewing info I really do not think it is a pump failure.

#

No signs I have researched point there.

#

The pump is also outputting correct rpm numbers

#

Also bios has been updated, no changes

#

Core temp and HW monitor readings

#

I contacted Corsair in case, but I am still troubleshooting for now.

Can you elaborate a bit on that? Since everything you've shown and said do in fact point to it being an issue with the pump, even if the RPM number is correct according to HWINFO it doesn't mean that the pump is actually working correctly.

#

Feel free to try and diagnose it as a different issue altogether, but I'd still say that the issue is with the AIO.

Just to do with feeling it running, I know you are probably right I am just in denial cause it was working fine just before I removed it i'd say 1 hour before starting it back up with my new CPU.

remember, 12th gen runs way cooler then 14th gen, so it probably wasnt noticed when it failed or was failing

onyx nest
#

That’s true but I usually checked temps, and I never saw anything out of the usual.

#

Last time I checked temps was about a month ago cause helldivers 2 was bugging out my fans.

#

Bugging out as in making them run full blast while in game, so I was monitoring temps while in to make sure it was not a temperature issue.

Ah

#

maybe for some reason after disconnecting the plug to the MB and reconnceting it it shorted the pump? hard maybe on that but would explain the sudden stop

onyx nest
#

Yeah, a short could explain it. I will update this once I get a new cooler on.

The load variance is completely normal lol

onyx nest
#

Alright, new cooler is on and it is running as normal. Wish I knew what killed it in that month timeframe. Thanks for the help.
