So I built a new pc and I transferred my old storage but when I plugged it in and turned on the pc none of my stuff there and so when I tried to download my games from steam it doesn't work and not sure why?

Did you install windows? Or just boot into your old OS?

It wouldn't boot into windows with the install from the old ssd so I got a new one and just did a fresh install on the new ssd

Did you go into steam go into settings go to the storage section then click a drop down menu that shows the current drive and then there should be an option to add drive?

Yeah I believe I did and then when I tried to download one of the games I already had on that drive it wouldn't work or was that not the right thing to do
Didn't see it before but question would not activating the new windows install be the problem
I found a product key I think from when I got my old pc would thay key still work

Activating windows right now would not be an issue to prevent you from adding a drive on steam or even getting the games to show up.

Ok got it I'll just add it right now since it's just a small thing and I found my license I got for my old pc
Ok so steam is now downloading the game I tried to last time
But I'll look for the storage selection
It wouldn't be downloading the game right since I already have it installed on the storage I have in the computer
Also I have a drive thay says system reserved for some reason but nothing is in it but there is something that has taken up.space

maybe they got deleted with the fresh install

So they were on both and i think i figure it out i had to move them to a differnt steam libaray as a whole. The one wierd thing was that my characters from terria didnt transfer over and show up so i jjust grabbed the ones i had on my laptop. one thing i dont understand though is why none of my apps i had on my storafe came over as well and i havw to redownload them

if you just transferred programfiles it may have happen
but I'll tell you always redownload everything when changing computer
at least steam cloud transfer everything
and if you have game using local save you can copy those files but not the whole game
never
and its not such a mess like this
