Hello, i'm looking to upgrade my CPU and my GPU, right now ive got a 1660 super and a ryzen 5 3600, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DbWjCd
It says i would need an update on my BIOS to support the CPU. however on msi's website https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK/support#bios Im not seeing any update about addind support for the ryzen 7 5800x3d. is that normal ?

hellsdivers 2 for example

#

started playing wow as well, raiding with 20fps is not fun

dim hornet
#

like world of warcraft?

lean tide
#

yea$

dim hornet
#

Raiding shouldnt be that low

lean tide
#

well

#

it is

dim hornet
#

this hardware is pretty good for just playing wow

lean tide
#

yea it is

#

when doing dungeons as 5 players its fine

#

though raiding is hell

#

when you get more than 20+

#

its terrible

dim hornet
#

Seems like the ryzen 5 3600 should be more than enough for those games

#

the gpu tho

#

thats probably the issue

#

i mean i run my 3600 with a 6800xt (radeon version of a 3080)

#

and i have no issues with games all the way up to like starfield

#

So id probably say uh

lean tide
#

only change gpu for now ?

dim hornet
#

yeah i mean id probably try to save the cpu if u dont really need to upgrade now

#

since youd be ugprading to the 5800x3d

#

which is a great cpu its jsut

#

still no upgrade path past iot

#

so you're still just gonna have to buy a new motherboard in the future

#

Do u have a parts list for your build currently?

lean tide
#

my current build is exactly what i linked below

#

just 3600 and 1660 super

dim hornet
#

okay

lean tide
#

above*

dim hornet
#

are you okay with used parts?

lean tide
#

buying used parts ?

dim hornet
#

yeah

lean tide
#

nah, im in europe so we got warranty for new products

dim hornet
#

aight

lean tide
#

2y warranty is not too bad

dim hornet
#

u still usually get a warranty with used parts assuming u buy from like newegg themselves or some of the different ebay sellers

lean tide
#

idk

dim hornet
#

What resolution are you playing at?

lean tide
#

nah we dont have newegg here

#

rn 1080, planning to upgrade to 1440

dim hornet
#

oh yeah forgot about that

#

Yeah so id probably just buy the 6700xt u put with ur list and just see how that does

#

since used is off the table i think the 6700xt is just going to be ur best choice unless you want to get a better gpu with the money u arent using on the cpu

#

though id probably put that towards a better monitor

#

what country are you in so i can actually check prices

#

assuming its on pc part picker

#

those are all the countries available

lean tide
#

france

dim hornet
#

aight so with how close the 6700xt and 6800 are in price

#

i would probably just get the rx6800

#

its around a 17fps difference at 1440p for only 30 euro more

lean tide
#

yea but will my PSU be fine ?

dim hornet
#

totally

#

your rm650x will be perfectly fine with the rx6800

#

its already pretty high quality + the 6800 doesnt use much power compared to other cards

plucky walrus
#

I think you should go with R5 7600/7600X

dim hornet
dim hornet
plucky walrus
#

I just bouth my 1st pc with R7 7700X

#

Even if i can buy 7800X3D

dim hornet
#

I mean i just wouldnt buy the 7600 cause its gonna be a pretty expensive upgrade

lean tide
plucky walrus
#

Whats his budget?

dim hornet
lean tide
#

i was fine with 600- 700€ for both cpu & gpu

plucky walrus
dim hornet
#

thats about how much the entire upgrade to am5 would be

dim hornet
#

the ryzen 5 3600 can run perfectly fine in newer games with a 6800xt

plucky walrus
dim hornet
lean tide
#

whats up with all the prices being so different ?

dim hornet
lean tide
#

770€

plucky walrus
lean tide
#

vs 400

plucky walrus
dim hornet
#

france

dim hornet
#

here are the cheapest b650 and above mobos in france pcpp

lean tide
#

id rather just get a whole new pc

dim hornet
#

the first half decent one with ANY vrm heatsinks is the ASROCK b650m

#

though i still wouldnt really get that one

#

this one isnt terrible but again

#

an extra 30 euro gets u a motherboard with 2 more ram slots, ATX, and more m.2 slots

#

and a real VRM heatsink and not just a bar of metal'

#

metal fins gaming

#

lmao

dim hornet
#

like ur case, psu, cpu cooler all of that can stay

#

They arent bad at all

#

but i mean back on topic i think your best bet is getting the rx6800

#

then just seeing how it goes

#

if it still isnt enough

#

Then get the 5800x3d

#

Your motherboard Does support it by the way

lean tide
#

yea but im not finding which update

dim hornet
#

this one

#

this newest one will work just fine

plucky walrus
#

If you have some cooler or nice GPU then you can save it

lean tide
#

ty

dim hornet
#

thats like $150 over what they had to pay

plucky walrus
dim hornet
#

The ryzen 5 7600x is just a OC'd 7600, tey both get the same Performance so u choose whichever is cheaper

#

The ak400 isnt really needed since their cpu cooler would already work for the 7600x

#

The b650 gaming isnt all that better over the eagle which is $30 less

plucky walrus
dim hornet
#

and the ram is just more expensive than it needs to be

plucky walrus
dim hornet
#

Just use the cooler they already had

#

They have a artic 34 esports already

plucky walrus
lean tide
#

my cooler's fine

dim hornet
lean tide
#

though its ugly asf its yellow, thank god i don't have a glass 👍

dim hornet
#

LMAO

#

yellow cooler is insane

plucky walrus
#

Dont judge me. I bouth 4060

#

But its not primarly for gaming

lean tide
dim hornet
#

Its like a "im gonna set it really high to cover my ass"

#

And i mean how would someone tell you what psu you need without knowing your entire system

#

so it really is just a recommendation

lean tide
#

realized it's not a B450 i have but the b450 max Think_Stares

dim hornet
#

from what i remember

#

its got like higher ram speed support and thats pretty much all the noticable things

lean tide
#

its saying max LULW

#

ive had some issues with the gpu btw
