Having stability issues with this combo, I've tried setting the P-core multiplier down to x55 to prevent GPU out of memory error/BSODs that were happening. I've also tried setting TDP max to 253 for both short/long duration.
Might be time to lower voltages, but I'm unsure exactly how to do that with this mobo. Used to use ASRock and I swapped over to Gigabyte this upgrade cycle.
Pretty terrible that default CPU/Mobo settings causes this.
#i9-14900k & Z790 AORUS Master instability issues
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
What's the ram speed at?
U sure it's the cpu?
Could be ram instability caused my mobo or cpu mem controller
@primal thunderYo
Same here
i9 14900k and MSI Z790
im also having instability
all bsod pointing towards memoryy
but i already bought and switched rams nothing worked
sometimes nvlddmkm.sys error
its Vram
i hope we can try to fix this
its so annoying to get these types of error
my mobo released a bios update to fix this
but im still getting same bsod with memory errors lol
Are you getting hard crashes? My AORUS elite X AX crashed yesterday and now it won’t post at all. I9-14900KF and gigabyte 4090 gaming OC
hard crashes?
sometimes my discord or other apps crashes without a event viewer log
As in just shuts my PC off no blue screen just straight to black and no power
only happened once or twice
im pretty sure its 40 series issue
the vram is causing the crash
but windows reports it as memoryy issue
ye
the gpu is causing this issue for me atleast
have u seen this nvlddmkm.sys?
in event viewer or during bsod
its driver issue
many ppl having this issue u can look on forums
my gpu is also 4080
Yep
Look what is the stop cold when u got a blue screen
Memory_Management
driver_irql_not_less_or_equal
page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
Yep all leads to either unstable cpu or ram
Ignore that
This is why I asked ur ram speed and capacity
5600mhz
I would do ram stress test.
i did
If that fails it's the ram
.
i have 2 different kits rn
5600mhz and what's the capacity
Then we run a cpu stress test. Check the cooling and the temp. Then we proceed to undervolt the cpu
already did
prime 95 for one hour straight
max temp was 77 degree
So we static pin a voltage, p core clock, e core clock, uncore and load line calibration.
but undervolting leads to uunstability
14900k default 5.7ghz all core. Try to aim smth like that
???
how to do that
u mean all p cores?
what about e cores
No, if what u said is true and u ran hard mem test with no problem. It's cpu core issue.
its 100% true
Intel try to single core boost high without enough voltage
Like 6 ghz
Then it crashes
oh yea my cpu runs at 6 ghz
6ghz is one core.
It won't run 6ghz all P core
Idk
so 5.7 ghz?
I would discord and help but I got stuff to do unfortunately
oh ok
And I injured myself 2 days ago lower back.
should i tryy 5.5ghz
Damn i hope u are fine
Maybe ask people in the overclock channel how to static pin clock speed voltage and load line calibration
get well soon : )
alright
thanks for the help
2 p cores were at 6 ghz
i changed them to 5.7 ghz
lets see if bsod disappeared or not
Hey, so I've tried running Prime 95 and I almost immediately start seeing rounding errors get spit out.
Cinebench R24 will complete the first render, looks like it's about to start a second and freeze.
Tried Intel diagnostic tool, it'll sometimes BSOD while under load.
I've also opened a support ticket with Intel in case I need to RMA. Maybe they'll have a solution.
my cpu never crashed during stress test
only while playing games
or using chrome/discord
maybe u have factoryy overclocked cpu
overlocking making ur pc unstable
Mine crashes all the time.
I've underclocked it and set max wattage to 253w to keep power use down.
whats ur current ghz
55x max
No, BIOS
Haven't touched e cores yet
Can try that out after work today. Had been doing some reading on Reddit and various forums, looks like a good number of people got bad chips and had to RMA, might have to RMA as well
i see
if u get a full refund go for amd or something else
uh
I fixed 10+ this issue on amd here at LTT already
I have encountered 10+ amd on this forum and around 5 intel
I complain about amd durability and instability on other discord
I stopped caring when people have this issue and my irl friend in AUS got the same problem
This was a 5800X
i see
u free rn on discord?
my 2 p cores were at 6 ghz switched them to 5.7ghz
yes
my crash rarely happens
like once or twice a day
why ram test
which ram test did u do? Tm5 anta extreme or hci memtest?
so we start with ram test
fine then lets static pin voltage
i did that
6 ghz to 5.7 ghz
2 p cores
all p cores 5.7 ghz
all e cores 4.4 ghz
ring ratio still not sure its on auto rn
whats the voltage? and llc?
253
u mean offest ratio?
vcore
its auto
same with llc
i tried to change them and crashed during stress test
my bad
i confused those things
i only changed power limit , clock speed so far
nothing else
I can walk u thru on discord I need too see the bios and ur cpu temp when stress test.
ok
Unsure if it's a memory issue or a memory controller issue on the CPU. Starting RMA process for my RAM and we'll test swapping that out first
use one stick at a time
if its ram only one stick will fail ( still not 100% )
maybe both sticks are fauulty
but chances are very low
Honestly it doesn't matter, all of the sticks are from one kit and if I RMA I'll be swapping the entire kit.
I'm going to try running the same test with my DDR4 kit from my old PC and see how it goes. If it still fails it's probably the CPU still
alright
u are lucky
im still unsure about my issue lol
my cpu can easily pass 1 hour of intense stress test
already checked rams
and still getting memoryy bsod lol
its cpu
i tested my cpu with intel application
and it failed
