#Am I crazy to upgrade to AM5?

Is it really that much of an upgrade? I am just trying to think what makes like some logical sense here haha.
i mean there is some benefits, and you upgrade to zen 4
Yeah, I'm just trying to determine if it's a lil crazy or not. I don't really NEED to upgrade but buying a new mobo got me thinking...
if you need the usage of extra cores, staying with the 5900x, but if you're actually wanting to get a performance boost and you dont care about the cores, 7000 series might be the way to go
I got a 5900x because I liked the idea of boost from cores extra tabs, etc... But i don't need it. It's a WFH computer nopt running programs or anything crazy and a gaming machine.
No am5 is great and if anything it just gives you a upgrade path
My only thing is that I play classic wow, league of legends, BG3, hogwarts legacy like I really don't NEED it at all
if you have a cheaper budget i'd recommend the r5 7600x it's a little better than the 5900x and it isnt a downgrade
right know on amazon it's $230
Yeah I just don't want to upgrade again..
I already have a solid CPU cooler, case, 4tb m.2 I just bought. So I would only need mobo, cpu, ram, gpu
you don't have to to be fair, the 5900x is a great cpu
I more so meant upgrade from the 7600x to the 7800x3d I almost feel like going x3d right away is the move
if you have the budget go for it
Again I don't need the upgrade, I just figured if I'm already buying a new mobo maybe having an upgrade path and selling "high" on my 5900x used iks a smart move.
if you are gaming in 4k though, it might be better to give a little upgrade to your gpu, the 7800x3d is still a beast cpu

Yeah I'm just thinking of going to new platform and getting on it while old stuff is worth more and since I have to buy a new mobo anyhow..
If you live near a microcenter you can get a 7700x + ram + mobo for $400
^^^
I don't unfortunately. Do they ship with that deal? Sounds insane.
Nah, they don’t ship most of their products
damn... Are there any similar deals? Elswhere.
just go on an epic roadtrip to a microcenter
dang so for $18 cheaper at microcenter you get ram too? that's crazy
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600
Closest one to me is prob 10 hour drive
Where do you live?
And an 8 core processor
The the v2 of that mobo it’s the same just little newer
This mobo if you want to save money https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CvcgXL/gigabyte-b650-eagle-ax-atx-am5-motherboard-b650-eagle-ax
Or the ASRock Livemixer
This is the same just the newer version of that mobo for the same price https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KCp7MV
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600
I do need a matx though
Oh okay
Pro RS then
Gigabyte B650M AORUS ELITE AX Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard vs. ASRock B650M PG RIPTIDE Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard vs. MSI PRO B650M-A WIFI Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard vs. ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard
Or the Pro RS non-wifi
personally, i'd go with the asrock mobo. they're killing it with latest gen amd
Ok good to know. I'm thinking, so I could sell my 5900x for probably $225, my Ram for probably $50 (32gb 3200mhz). That puts me at like $275 plus I need a new mobo anyhow wihch puts me at basically $375 ish. So I guess it would prob be worth since I'm not spending that much on top.
Looks like about $528 for a 7700x, asrock board, and new ram so I'd pay like $150 on top ish
you near a microcenter?
No ):: haha already was brought up
nearest is like 10+ hours away
ah, fuck
Apparently there is a crazy deal going on, but it says sold out online.
Oh damn yeah that's crazy... I wish I could get that. I guess the other problem though is that I need a MATX board.
what case you got?
I have a SAMA IM 01 and am doing a sleeper build pc so I need a MATX or smaller.
ah, that case is handy as it will take matx and itx mobo's as well as it will do atx and sfx psu
though tbh, if you're doing a sleeper build it should be in something like an older dell optiplex case
Well I have an old beige 2000 case that I'm gonna build in but my current is sama IM 01
Does the bundle let you do any MATX boards?
afaik, no
Hmm, I wish there was. Was gonna have family that lives about an hour from a microcenter buy and ship to me.
Could have them buy for me, sell mobo and buy MATX but that seems like a bit of a hassle.
So I have a family member that can purchase the microcenter bundle and ship to me. On top of that they are having a $50 off sale for 3 days. Do I go for the 7700x bundle or 7800x3d for $100 more?
Are you gaming?
If so, then yes
My pc is for Home use, WFH, casual, and less demanding gaming. 80% of it's gaming though when not doing WFH which isn't super demanding
I could even get the 7900x bundle as well for $549. I just want to have it make sense
