your problem is missing information so let me try to understand what your saying.
the laptop had a harddrive (drive a) with data in it. he put in another drive (drive b) also with data on it but without a password.
if there is no password on that drive, it will just log you into windows it wont ask you for a password. so im not sure why your saying its asking you to put in a password reset disk

we dont have a way to reset the password
and im pretty sure he physically changed the drive
Send a pic of the screen you're stuck on. But if you don't care about the personal data on the drive, then just reinstall windows.
