#Is a upgrade from a AMD Ryzen 7 2700x to 7 5700x3d worth it?

I don't know if that would bottleneck at all
but it may be better cost wise to ride out AM4 for as long as possible anyway
@true eagle what resolution do you play at
2560 X 1080
if you're at 1080p you are probably cpu limited then
not sure how much performance you would gain by upgrading though
I mostly play games like BG3 and Palworld, Not super completive games like CS2. I know BG3 sometimes struggles in the bigger areas of act 3 so it drops below 40FPS
actually
check your cpu usage ingame
per thread
see if any threads are close to 100%
you can use MSI afterburners' overlay
also, have you undervolted / overclocked your cpu and gpu
you can get a few % extra performance by doing that
I am running my CPU at 4Ghz with a AIO H100i Cooler.
nice
have you done gpu
I was able to get a decent boost on my 6650xt
not yet actually
what I did was bump up the voltage and increase the frequency until I crashed
then keep the frequency just below that and decrease voltage until I crashed
I ended up with -15mV and +200mhz
iirc
I also increased the power limit to 240W but only furmark can actually make it use that much
otherwise its just frequency limited
if you're just gming, yeah it's worth it
3% less than what they'd get with a 5800x3d
yes but what I mean is idk how cpu bottlenecked they are
if it's just like a couple % then don't upgrade
there isnt really a good way to measure that tho
zen+ architecture with the 2700x, not so much being bottlenecked tbh but going zen2 or zen3 will be between a 20-50/70% performance increase
rivatuner ss's overlay, that can run separately from using afterburner
yes but if the cpu is not the bottleneck in their system there is no point in upgrading
the longer you wait before upgrading the cheaper parts are
worth it I had a r5 1400 not to a 7 5800x3d best upgrade ever
ps it's a really hot chip so you need a good case and cooler
5800x3d maybe
I don't see the 5700x3d being as hot
I know the 5800x non 3d has some typically high power usage resulting in hotter temps
similar to the 5700x for thermals, the only downside for both 5500x3d and 5700x3d is no use of pbo2
oh ok
makes it not as tune-able as the 5600/5800x3d can be
selected microcenter only
