I'm looking to build my first PC and not completely sure how to spec it.
My budget is between $1500-$1700-ish dollars. I want the color scheme to be either A.) Black/Silver With No RGB B.) Black/Silver with minimal RGB (Ram, AIO Cooler, GPU, Halo Style Fans).
As for internal specs I want to go with either a 3080 or 4070. Can find either for about $475 on Ebay so use that as price.
Intel or AMD doesn't matter to me. Just don't let the CPU bottleneck the GPU.
I prefer the CPU cooler to be a 360mm AIO as they look better in the case I've chosen (NZXT H6 Flow Black) compared to standard bulky coolers.
32GB of ram (2 x 16GB). Atleast 2TB of NVMe storage. Preferably a 500GB NVMe or SATA for OS, and other things, and a 2TB NVMe for games and programs.
Case as I said is the NZXT H6 Flow in black. Case can hold 9 fans (Front: 3 x 120mm, Top: 3 x 120mm, Rear: 1 x 120mm, Bottom: 2 x 140mm). The bottom 2 fans are not necessary to me, but the front, top, and rear are a must (Factor fan price into total). Gold+ power supply aswell.
The plan to use the PC primarily for gaming, but will do some school work, job work, and light photo/video editing on it too. Listed below are games I play/want to play:
Hitman 3, FiveM, Warzone/MWII, CSGO, Fortnite, Madden, Ready or Not, Rainbow Six Siege, Minecraft, GTA VI when it releases, Roblox, Random Indie Games, Etc.

If anyone helps that would be greatly appreciated as my knowledge in computers is limited.
Below are some photos of my setup right now for reference.
Need help with first PC build.
why nvidia?
you could easily get a 7900xt for that budget, or get a new 7800xt for $500
$1650 - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
here is a random build I have saved as an example
it has none of the aesthetic stuff you want though
Just not familiar with AMD. Basically is all.
Plus idk how which cards compare to which
Plus that card in that build is $700
Yeah but it’s also 40% faster
The 7800xt is $500, still a little faster than 4070, and has more vram
I'm not against AMD, just never thought about them since I'm not familiar with them is all.
7800xt is a lot better
From what I can find the 4070 and 7800XT have very similar scores.
AMD for GPU is far better for you.
From where?
I just use UserBenchmark

idk what else to use
Ok very constructive criticism
And hate on AMD
Ok so are you just going to hate or give me a better option?
Ok how is it better?
Yeah I know where I'm fine cheaping out and where im not.
That’s why
Userbenchmark is actual shit lol
They’re so biased towards intel that intel themselves say not to use it
SAM is just rebranded REBAR
Does not matter
Yeah
My build
$1650 - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
Not even cheaping out on cpu either
Overkill cpu
Could save $200 if needed
here
Saved Part Lists
oh shit
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
proper link
not a fan of the red on the gpu but can be taken apart and painted or something
consistent with my color scheme.
didn't cheap out one the GPU/CPU imo
I would get 7600 with 7800XT tbh
even with 7900XT its like ehhhh
bc you can always get something like https://pcpartpicker.com/user/object_Object/saved/WVBNpg
$1500 - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
and save $200
I don’t think so
It’s as good as a 5800X3D
Which is the worst case for cpu
You want to test cpus at 720p and with a good gpu
So the bottleneck is artificially limited to just the cpu
If you look at 4k game tests it’s literally flat
Because GPU bottleneck
Depends on the games you play tho
Competitive shooters are more cpu heavy
In that case you want 7800X3D
I tend to play more FPS
Ok, go 7800X3D then
compared to graphical games
ok well here's that one sent me, tweaked
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XT, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
$1350 (Skew CPU) - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT
$1650 - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
Either of these
Depending on how much you wanna pay
im fine tapping into the $1700 RANGE
cap lock
like I said though, i'd prefer to do an AIO as they just look better in the case that I'm going with.
Yeah just swap one into my build
idk any good aios so
yeah im tweaking it rq
see i personally feel like a 7800XT would be more than sufficient
do you have a website you recommend for comparing gpus?
i want to compare the 7800xt and 7900xt against my current graphics card
Yeah that’s why I linked the cheaper build
techpowerup reviews
What’s your current gpu again?
💀
Thats gonna be quite a large gap
What res you on?
1080p, 240hz (or atleast i try to use the 240hz)
Yes
Scroll to relative performance
7800xt almost twice as fast as 2070S
7900xt 2.4 times faster
holy
thats pretty insane
so a 7800XT realistically should be more than enough, but if I have extra money, the 7900Xt may be worth it.
Yes
Here is difference in doom eternal as example
I just stole from 4080 super review
Hmm, would it be dumb to look for a 7900XT like on Ebay for a lower price?
No
Used market good
As long as you make sure to stress test it and stuff after you buy
Well thank you for helping me narrow it down significantly.
Yeah I know, id play a mix of competive and graphical
Well realistically I won't have the fund to buy the computer for another 3-4 months depending on how much I make at work.
So maybe prices will drop by then
Oh yeah those city sims are taxing on PCs
Not even
cs1 runs at 180fps 3440x1440 on my 6650xt
They just didn’t optimize like
Anything
With cs2
it is still kind of new right?
Kinda
cause i played a bit of CS1
lol
so here's what I did to the 7900XT
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
Noooooo
The funny motherboard is gone
😭
On the higher side of where I wanted to be, but prices may drop or find a good deal on something.
lol
The actual reason I picked it is bc of the sheer amount of usb ports
That and its the cheapest mobo
Also you can stay with the cheaper ram in my build
Case fans don't cost much, but the amount of fans I added is just for the rear and bottom.
Pretty sure they use the exact same chips anyway
fair enough
The price difference is $3
💀
nvm
It doesnt really matter
yeah lmao
I cant type
Yeah so 👍
W build
Make sure to undervolt and overclock all the things after you get it
Yeah ive never done that before so we'll see when we get there.
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
And thats the 7800XT
legit just a $200 difference because of card.
lol yeah
At least its sorta good value
1.4 times the money for 1.3 times the performance
What budget again?
1700
lemme cook
I got 9 fans in here
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
Yes but 720 prob still alot better
They’re getting 7900 XT
Never again
💀
